The controversial Pahlaj Nihalani has been sacked and replaced by lyricist Prasoon Joshi. Nihalani’s tenure as Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) chief was riddled with controversies.
The filmmaker objected to scenes in films like Aligarh, Udta Punjab and more recent films like Lipstick Under My Burkha, Indu Sarkar and Babumoshai Bandookbeaaz. Nihalani had also objected to usage of ‘intercourse’ word in one of the promos of Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Jab Harry Met Sejal’
The new chief, Prasoon Joshi, who won the Padma Shri in 2015, is one of the film industry’s leading lyricists and screenwriters.
A new team of board members has been appointed, which includes actress Vidya Balan, filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri amongst others:

I hope they crest a new formula where genre and censor rating depends what is going to be left out and what is going to stick..i hope they stop making cuts and release movies as they are (allowing nudity and sex scenes also since doing those are actors choices) so that makers feel creative freedom and make movie truly realistic..nobody wants to watch a sex comedy with the s3x censored and nobody wants to see a villain who is unable to use bad language and I am sure nobody wants to see an R rated movie like deadpool 2 with all the cuts adhered to it

Prasoon Joshi is pro-tingu. There will be no cuts in long kissing scene of Tingu with his offscreen GF Fatima in Thugs of Tingustan.
