PK Saturday Collections: Box Office Update

PKRajkumar Hirani’s PK has witnessed normal drops of around 10-15% for the morning shows on Saturday. Cities like Bangalore, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Pune, Mangalore were down by around 10%, while North Indian was down by around 15-20% due to extreme weather conditions.

The drop in the morning is normal for Saturday and the film should pick up evening onwards. If it does pick up towards the end of Day 2, like most films that carry good reports do, the second day collections of PK should be up by around 10-20%.

The Aamir Khan starrer is arguably the best received big film of 2014. Reports from social media websites like Twitter / Facebook and multiplexes in big cities are extremely positive. Most exhibitors are confident that the film will sustain Monday onwards and end Week 1 on a high, thanks to the Christmas holiday on Thursday.

The trust that the audience have in Aamir Khan and Raju Hirani has also ensured that the corporate block bookings are the best for any film released this year. To celebrate Dhirubhai Ambani’s 82nd birth anniversary, Reliance Industries has spent somewhere around Rs 1.75 – 2 crore on 58,000 tickets of PK for all their employees. The screening for Reliance employees is scheduled for the New Year weekend (Dhirubhai’s birthday is on the 28th of December). Even at smaller centres, companies like Ultratech, Asian Paints and many others are giving away tickets to their dealers and staff.

Overall, PK is set for a long and successful run at the box office. The film is under-performing at smaller centres (exhibitors say, the increased ticket prices is affecting the occupancy), if these centres pick up, PK could challenge Dhoom 3’s record for the highest grosser of all time.

  • Sorry, but I’m gonna post two comments for same article. @indicine, how did you predicted that PK could challenge D3 collection as this movie content is complectly average. Yeah, its collection could be around kick for sure due to Christmas, no big release till tevar, and increased ticket price, except these three things it even can’t cross ek tha tiger’s collection. I personally like aamir khan but how he convenced to do such movie which contents and message already addressed by OMG – some scene and dialogs were copied frame to frame from OMG.

  • @indicine where is official first day collection. I beleive indicine will give actual number not producer’s. Because Amir himself said producer fudges collection lets see collections match trade.

Look at Amir fans instead of discussing box office number they are talking about quality of movie and completely diverting attention.

  • #?PK? is not as good as Rajkumar Hirani’s classic Munnabahi MBBS and 3 idiots. Basically PK is ?#?OhMyGod? part 2. ?

  • Watched it first day first show
Good movie but should not be compared with 3 idiots
3 idiots was a milestone which all movies can’t be

  • @ Indicine Would Dhoom 3 have collected 280 crores (although fudged by YRF) had Ram Leela (which had hit music)released two weeks after it’s release and without the advantage of hiked ticket prices and 4 open weeks. Please reply.

  • I have not Clue why People are mourning Over 2nd Half of #PK
Abay Kia Sajid Khan ki movie hai Jo us main b Faltu k Comedy Scenes Chahiye ??

OMG- Just come from My second show of PK with family and I loved it more than the first time. Short review as Im pretty tired from drive back n wallet surgery- expensive day but well worth every penny.
Ok so repeat values are definitely there and content is strong n captivating. Second half has the right elements including the forsaken love angle which mass audiences would love so I dont buy ‘this forced love angle sentiment’ of yours Indicine. (Read your review and will not respond to it as its not the right place to do so)
The best scene was the ‘The final Question’ segment- again similar to OMG but not many saw OMG n more will see PK so the emotions delivered by PK in his response n subsequent reasonings were sublime. Paresh did a stellar job but here PK is really exhausted searching for God n his suffering brings a silence to the room as we all can relate to similar frustrations/ fatigue. I get frustrated seeing dynamic made chameleons on Indicine roaming freely or SSS Khans spelling deteriorating or Indicine posting more silly Qs from
Sambuddha Mukherjee about Arjun Kapoors potential debut in Tollywood or a possible reconciliation between Saruman and babaji kshitij Srivastava….!
Also the Sarfaraz / Jaggu church scene retold brought a tear to my eyes n audiences held their breath during that part. Really heartfelt emotional ride- top work team. I think second half was GOOD n ofcourse first half rocked big time but the ending scene (I wont spoil anyones enjoyment here so relax) brought the house down.
All in all PK the character was magnificently played by Aamir- cant see anyone else doing that role- he held the audiences attention with everything he did or said- proud of Raju Sirs direction as his friendship with Aamir ensured he got the maximum out of Aamir and PK….!
The only thing stopping me from giving the movie a total 5 stars is I (spoiler alert) would have loved it if Raju Sir had shown the audience PK using his ‘remote’ to actually send out signals to his spaceship… This was shown in Jaadoo Mil Gaya n the kids loved this in that movie so more so for the kids this addition could have given greater scope for kids to come back for more.
Film deserves more than 4.5 stars but thats the best I can give it.

Watch it and forget 3 idiots- different topic with 3 lead characters who brought so much to the movie- here PK and Jaggu are main draw so they are one man down compared with 3 idiots but still do enough to keep you intrigued through 150 mins. This ones a classic and boxoffice winner all the way into the 300 cr club.

  • pk is a lower grade versionn of OMG.it will drop till Sunday.from Monday it will sink at BO.raju hirani dissapointed me a lot.I never expected this from HIM.I couldn’t get a film better than HAIDER in this year.even I also told other users to watch this crap pk on theatres.but over actor amir proved he is half actor.each and every action is consists of over action,it almost would have killed me through out the movie however I managed to watch completely only due to hirani.
