PK has opened to near full houses at multiplexes across the country on Friday. The early morning shows opened slow, some multiplexes were as low as 30-35% for shows that start at 8:30 in the morning, but as the day progressed, premium multiplexes were recording 100% collections.
The best response has come from cities like Bangalore, Mumbai, Noida, Gurgaon, Kolkata, Pune – even though ticket prices here are selling at a premium, people were seen lining up to catch the Rajkumar Hirani – Aamir Khan film. At smaller centres too, the response has been very good. Exhibitors from south Indian centres like Mangalore, Mysore (city), Coimbatore (where PK is competing with Lingaa) have been reporting high occupancies for shows that start 10AM onwards.
3PM Update: PK is going from strength-to-strength at multiplexes. Ticket prices hasn’t affected business at premium multiplexes, where tickets are selling at all time high rates. Mass centres like C.I, C.P, Bihar, UP are average at best, but a film like PK was never to be expected to take a bumper opening here.
6PM Update: At metros, PK is on par with Happy New Year on a working day! Most night shows are sold out in advance in cities like Bangalore, Mumbai, Pune.. It remains to be seen if the cold wave affects late night shows in North India, where the advance is lower than other places.

PK has received huge critical acclaim. I think it shall be better than OMG. I love Paresh Rawal but OMG’s script felt too direct. The second half was full of gyaan. It had a unique point to talk about which is why it was successful.
But I fail to understand why so much fuzz about OMG and PK? Get over it. It is a genre called religious satire! In that sense, even Bruce Almighty is a rip off of Man who sued God. Because both these movies made similar statements!
PK shall any day be better than 3I. 3I is awesome because of its natural appeal. Pk has that + the career best of Aamir according to all leading critics.
My only question to Indicine is, why are you guys changing your opinion? Your 3I review clearly states you didn’t really like it. But now you say, we expect something as good as 3I? Isn’t that double standards?
I won’t be surprised if you give 3 stars to Sanjay Dutt biopic after 3 years and say, “We expected something as good as PK!”
This is a film which is really needed in todays culture.

Maybe he doesn’t have much fans on Indicine, but on IMBD and Quora his fan base is impeccable! On Quora he is 10 times bigger than all other superstars!
However great actor Aamir Khan is but the fact is… if he is given more screen time without supporting cast… his acting skills and the film are disaster. Aamir Khan’s acting and his film look good with more screen time to supporting actors. In short Aamir cannot carry any film on his shoulders (irrespective of what happens with PK)
