Sanjay Leela Bhansali has announced his next film ‘Padmavati’. The announcement has confirmed the much-rumoured cast of Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Shahid Kapoor.
Since the film was earlier announced for the week before Christmas in 2017, we reached out to the makers of the film to reconfirm the release date. The film will indeed release on the previously announced date of 15th December 2017.
Salman Khan’s next film with Yash Raj Films, Tiger Zinda Hai, which is a sequel to the 2012 film ‘Ek Tha Tiger’, will release during Christmas (22nd December 2017).
Bhansali has previously directed films like Khamoshi, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Devdas, Black and Ram Leela. His last film, Bajirao Mastani, was his biggest grosser to date.
Padmavati will also be the third consecutive outing for the trio of Bhansali, Deepika and Ranveer. Both their previous films have been successful at the box office.
Eros International has backed out of Padmavati, the film will be presented under the Viacom 18 banner.
Should’ve announced it for Diwali, clash with flop Devgn.

wonder if Padmavati would be better off releasing on 22nd instead of a week earlier………yes they wont get many screens but the main holiday advantages would be in its first week……
just feel if they have to release earlier, it should be minimum two weeks before TZH, else its better to clash on 22nd…..

Padmavati could be interesting, but I doubt a full movie on the shoulders of Deepika has less chance…..She cannot captivate you with solo performance like Kangana or PC, while no doubt she is a star and shines in multi-cast entertainers……..Hence, if the movie is focussing majorly on her character, i have doubts. In Bajirao, Deepika was brilliant in her role, but still it was Ranveer and his act that took the movie to a whole new level.
Katrina is going through the bad career phase,,,but co-star here is Salman, and together their jodi is electrifying…..Hence, it will be tough again for Padmavati.
The only plus point of Padmavati is Ranveer, and hopefully they put some great songs like Bajirao….and Ranveer do get a meaty role…..it will then be a good chance for Padmavati.

very good decision by bhansali as half of budget will be recovered in 1st week then it will enjoy christmas period. Christmas period is very favourable period and can sustain two big films. and Salman fan who are saying that after 1 week padmavati will not get screen do not forget baahabali & bajrangi case. baahubali collected very well despite the clash with salman’s best film that to on eid. and here its christmas period so definately if padmavati is well made then its profitable venture. so both movies will be succesfull if they are good. so basic scenario is
…if tzh & padmavati both were well made then padmavati 150-160 & tzh 250-260
…if both turned out to be avg then padmavati 115-125 & tzh 215-225
….and if tzh good & padmavati bad then padmavati 80-90 & tzh 280-300
…or if tzh bad & padmavati good then padmavati 180-200 & tzh 200.
baahubali ko bhi to screen mile the 2nd week mai or clash b bajrangi k sath jo salman ki best film on eid thi or clash k baad wo b approx 75 crore ka bus. kia tha or total 113 crore earn kia. yaha pe to christmas ka period hai jo best festive date hai so yaha pe screens b milenge or collection b hoga agar padmavati achi film hogi to or tzh wese b bajrangi jitni classic nahi hogi so dono films bhot acha business krengi bas dono film aachi honi chahiye so it is good decision to not direct clash but release one week before as wom agar positive hai to iska fayda milega padmavati ko 2nd week mai or Tzh b Salman ki film hai isliye acha collection kregi so dono fanbases ko ladne ki zarurat hi nahi h baas DONO KA CONTENT ACCHA hona chahiye. its Healthy clash not ugly clash.
