In a strong statement, Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar has slammed the ‘intolerant brigade’, telling them to be more responsible with words.
The actor, who is riding high on the super start to his patriotic film ‘Airlift’, also said that the country is very much tolerant, gives freedom of speech and expression.
“Our country is very much tolerant and gives freedom of speech and expression to everyone. However, it is our responsibility to think before we speak, as many times it happens that our words get misinterpreted. One needs to recheck their facts before speaking anything in front of the media.”
“I don’t think that India doesn’t give us the freedom of speech and expression. I am proud of my nation” Akshay said.
Recently, Karan Johar said that democracy and freedom of expression in the country is a joke.
Kajol, one of Karan’s good friends in the industry, also downplayed the controversy.
She said “Our industry will always keep reflecting on what is happening in our society. It will keep on going and everyone is welcome. There are no dividing lines, no caste, no creed and no intolerance in Bollywood”
Kajol had the same advice as Akshay, asking public personalities to speak well and correctly.
“These days people seem to have become oversensitive. As public personalities, it is our duty to speak well and correctly. I have always said my ‘Mann ki baat’ and it is no different now” the ‘Dilwale’ star said.
Meanwhile, filmmaker Prakash Jha also spoke about Johar’s comment on intolerance.
He said “He (Johar) had talked about his own state of mind and not the current state of the country. Why should we worry about his state of mind? He just described his mental state and it is his right to express himself”
He also said that there is absolutely no intolerance in the country “Our society is strong and we have been respecting each other cultures and communities”
Is akshay playing the ‘patriot’ card for personal gains??!! Or else I dnt think there is any need for him to give any statements!

I dnt knw for sure but after anupam kher I guess akshay is playing with the constantly bombarded and made fragile indian unity bond !! LOL Shahrukh and Aamir have done FAR more for the country than akshay can even hope to do. He better watch his words and think very carefully before making any more stupid statements such as this. It is ALSO the medias’ responsibility to be more thorough with their reporting and it is ALSO the duty of the fans to make sure what they hear is the FACT and not out of context reporting.

the conclusion is that Salman and Akshay Kumar are more intelegent than the likes of SRK and Aamir Khan because its not appropriate to say all what u believe or think when people around are very sensitive to everything!

The world these rich celebrities live in is quite different from the world we middle class people live , we know the ground reality better because we are ‘experiencing’ & ‘living with’ these things while these people come to know about such things only through our media (let’s accept it – our Indian media is one of the most corrupted, immoral , biased & business minded medias in the world) and we know what are the ‘hidden truths’ & ‘exaggerated lies’ (the ones promoted by the media & politicians ) that is been going on in India in varying scales .

it is only action and reactions that takes place as a result… The construction that gives right to speech and expression also states that no right is absolute… Hence if kjo wants to walk on roads without clothes he is not allowed to do so because he is not only person walking on road , and it is not the right that is given exclusively to kjo or to that extend a liberal or conservative person. It is given to everyone and when another find it objectionable they have every right to react but democratically
