OK Jaanu has performed poorly on its opening day at the box office, collecting Rs 4.08 crore on Day 1. The film was affected by Deepika Padukone’s ‘xXx: Return Of Xander’ which released in the evening at multiplexes and also the continued strong performance of Aamir Khan’s Christmas release ‘Dangal’.
Even with low costs, the poor start gives the film little or no chance at the box office, unless it manages 50-60% growth on Saturday – which will be difficult because the word-of-mouth isn’t there for the big growth to come.
Anything less than 15 crore in the first weekend will seal the fate of ‘OK Jaanu’ in the first weekend itself, as that would mean the film could struggle to cross the 30 crore mark by the end of its run.
While the full release of ‘xXx: Return Of Xander’ will have an impact on business today, the bigger threat could still come from ‘Dangal’ in the fourth weekend. The 4th Sunday collections of Dangal could go higher than the 1st Sunday of Ok Jaanu, if the latter does not show enough growth over the weekend.
It’s a poor beginning for the year – both for the industry and IndicineFBO as our first prediction of 2017 (much like 2016’s Wazir) is inaccurate. We predicted 5.6 crore as the opening day business of Ok Jaanu and given the start in the morning, it did look like the film had a chance to finish somewhere in that range. Unfortunately the growth did not come. The difference between our prediction and the actual collection is 27%.

To simply put it, young actors are still not bankable yet and have a long way to go. if you look any film with young actors, you will notice that it’s marketing budget is bigger than an Akshay Kumar film. What I mean to say is that crappy concepts work well with only stardom.

Raees to do 20 C is very difficult with clash/non-holiday/dull period. Anything above 15 is bonus.
I would easily expect Kaabil to do around 15 to 20 with the calculator they have although it might be around 8
