No intolerance in India, everything is nice in our country: Shah Rukh Khan

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan has clarified on his earlier comment and said there is absolutely no intolerance in the country. The actor said, his ‘intolerance’ remark in an interview with Rajdeep Sardesai, was an advice to the future generation of the country.

“I never meant that it is happening now. I don’t think. I will be very clear.. everything is very nice in our country.. God bless India, long live us, long live us Indians. There is no problem and nobody has been intolerant towards me except when I smoke” SRK said.

Further clarifying his statement, Shah Rukh said his advice to the younger generation would be to not differentiate in the name of region, religion, caste, creed colour, sex or gender.

“I do not think there is intolerance.. the question that was asked, for which people pounced on me, was ‘what would you say to the future generation?’ because I now fall under the seniority zone.. Fifty per cent of our population is 25 now. If I can give any advice to them, then it would be to not differentiate in the name of region, religion, caste, colour, creed, sex or gender” Shah Rukh said.

The actor added that his comments are often misunderstood by people.

“I think we are on the cusp of modernisation and best of places a country can be.. We will, we can and we should be superpower. There are only small issues for young generation. I am not saying the generation which exists.. I am not saying right now we have intolerance.. I am not saying there is a problem, nowhere have I said anything which is wrong and having said that, the fact that every time I speak, things are misunderstood” SRK said.

Full:

I know whether there is intolerance or not… but what I was asked, because of which I was attacked from all quarters and which was debated so much, was what will I say to the future generations… as I am in the seniority zone now… not as senior as you are… but senior enough… so for modernness… for modern India, which is progressing every year… and since I travel across the world a lot, so I realise that our country is progressing a lot… and going towards modernity.

All I wanted to say is whenever 50 per cent of our countrymen who are 25 (or below)… if there is a message that I would want to give to them, ‘it would be good if there is no discrimination on the basis of region, religion, caste, colour, creed, sex or gender’.

I don’t mean that it’s happening at present… I say it clearly… I have got scared… everything is fine in our country… God bless India… long live us… long live us Indians… there is no problem at all….

Nobody has shown any intolerant behaviour towards me… except for the time when I, except in front of people and they get offended…. Otherwise, even then they are tolerant… I know I make mistake (by smoking in public)… whatever I say… whatever I do… I have never said it anywhere. Nor will I say.

And please, there would be a few idiot people who will say that I am clarifying now because my film is releasing… but no what is true is true… I have never said it…nor do I think it….

I think we are on the cusp of modernisation and the best of place where a country can be… we will, we can and we should be a superpower but small little issues… I think for younger generations… I am not saying it for the generation that exists… I am not saying that right now we are intolerant.

I am not saying there is – I don’t know what to call it in Hindi so if you can translate it for me (audience says ” asahishnuta“)… yes, that’s what – I am not saying it’s there in our country at the moment… It’s not there at all….

I am happy… I am a happy go lucky person… I am a patriot… I am a nationalist…. I am really sorry if anybody has felt bad… and I am not saying this because I want people to watch my film… they will watch it if they want.

There is no issue if they don’t…you all should be happy but nowhere have I said anything which is wrong.

Having said that, every time I speak, things are misunderstood. This is perhaps the last place… and the best place… after this, any question asked from me should be based on my cheapness, my films, don’t ask me anything about important issues… neither on economic development… nor social… or society, caste, creed or politics… I don’t know anything… All I know is to act… that too only to some extent, according to a lot of people. So that’s what I will do. I don’t want to say anything other than this.

  • This U-turn statement was expected from Paltu-Khan. He will go to any level to promote his film. Even if he has to create controversy out of controversy.
And mr srk if there no intolerence then why you earlier said it was. Nashe mei the kya tb. Yaa film ki release date door thi to kuch bhi bol do. Ab kal picture lag rhi hai to u-turn kro ki film pr koi negative effect na pde.

He may be one of world’s richest actor but his thinking is small.
And yes SRK fans get the dislikes button ringing. I know comment will get hidden in a short while.

  • haha, one day he will say – “I wasn’t in Wankhede Stadium in 2012”. even this, his meaningless fans will believe him…….. BIG LOL

Neutral guy:But even bhai supported a convicted criminal what about that?
Bhai fans:Bhai has a golden heart yakub was innocent just as bhai and was framed by the Indian judiciary
Neutral guy:Bhai doesn’t have a good track record when it comes to crimes
Bhai fans:He’s been acquitted now it’s proved the car was drunk and black buck committed suicide.People are jealous of salman because of his superstardom. He had given the maximum hgoty.Name your favourite star and tell me how many hgoty have they given tell me..bolna chup kyu hai how many hgoty has your favourite star given

In Nepal here is craze of Only #SRK !

  • no guys….intolerance is there thats why he has to give such statement. …some morons behaves like illiterate in this country. …..

  • Good that he corrected himself and clarified his statement and its context.
No harm as long as you rectify your mistakes.
After all our country forgiven that star who supported a terrorist and then deleted his tweets. So why no SRK.
What SRK told was wrong and now as he explained his context, matter closed.
    Excited to watch Dilwale FDFS.

  • @thebhatta its still better than saying his driver was driving while accident. ….not him….u knw whom abt I am talking

  • So U-turn one day before movie release? I am losing respect for this guy with each passing day. He clearly said there is intolerance, there is growing intolerance.. He said both to Barkha and Rajdeep.. How can he completely deny it now?

Just because movie is releasing? Shame.

  • @SK 03:30 pm : What he said was wrong. And if he did a mistake, didn’t he have rights to correct the same?
Many actors and celebrities have done that in last and later apologised.
The most recent example is, your beloved Bhaijan himself.
Did you forget his tweets supporting Yakub and later he is removed his own tweets?

@Sachin 03:33 pm : You loon, advanced booking started much before his this statement and response was phenomenal. So he doesn’t need to beg people. People are dieng to catch Dilwale at the earliest.

  • Forget milestones like 200,250,300crs..SRK fans should celebrate as soon as Dilwale crosses PRDP collections. That would be quite an achievement as prdp was a solo release. But crossing it would need some taking!

  • I have been repeating it again and again give me an evidence when Srk said there’s a growing intolerance.First of all Srk gave only television interviews and it is very easy for newspapers to make headlines without explaining the context in which he said those words.
He is too big a star to get affected by these controversies and he had again stated “Some lunatics will say I am doing it because my film is releasing but I don’t care”
He’s the same star who didn’t back off when his movie was literally banned in 2010 and stuck to his words.
If anybody could provide me a video evidence where he said there’s a growing intolerance because of the ruling government or derided our country in any which way please let me know.
And Srk has never apologised for his statements even in this case:)

  • Han Srk Sir Film release honi hai toh ab intolerance kyun hogi ! Tumhari film ko tolerate karna hi sabse bada example hai tolerance ka

  • All srk fans plz for God’s sake stay active
    In indicine and twitter …..!!!!!
    everything will be alright inshalllah.
    Allah is with us …..
God is enough for us to make hurdles go away …..!!!!
Dilwale will be a massive hit inshalllah !!!!

  • @Mohit Have you watched the complete interview which he gave to Rajdeep and Barkha..I have watched both the interviews and I can say it as a matter of fact he had said the younger generation is becoming extremely intolerant and even said it isn’t a recent phenomena it’s just that the mediums of communication have expanded.
    Stop posting nonsense please!!

  • U-turn Khan aka srk….! We all know your cheap publicity for Crapwale. No one can stop this Crapwale being flop. There is no intolerance then why did you say growing intolerance in India???? Daar gaya srk…!
