Neerja is the 2nd highest grosser of 2016, but the film had two big advantages that helped it become a huge 70 crore plus grosser. The film was exempted from entertainment tax in several states and it didn’t have any competition at multiplexes for nearly a month after its release.
On the other hand, Kapoor & Sons has taken a much better opening at the box office but competition-wise, the film hasn’t had a free run right from the first day of its release. The ongoing T20 World Cup has affected business, the exam season is currently on in different parts of the country and there are quite a few big releases in the next couple of weeks – starting with Batman vs Superman and Rocky Handsome this weekend, followed by Arjun Kapoor’s Ki & Ka on April 1.
So it’ll be interesting to see how close Kapoor & Sons can get to Neerja in the next 10 days or so.
At the end of 4 days, Neerja had collected Rs 25.71 crore, while Kapoor & Sons has collected 31.43 crore.

Kapoor and sons will easily catch neerja. Higher screen count and holiday for holi are some of the factors that will propel it to 75+ crore.
The lead will increase by about 10 crore by the end of the week too.
Also, overseas collections are close to beating neerja, so I guess the film has potential to touch 150 crore worldwide, which is huge.

Sadly(for fans who want to experience the duel) amir was not used when virat just came to bat(when virat was not yet set/when he has not stabilised himself at the crease). Because in asia cup,amir bowled an unplayable delivery to virat for lbw & it was hitting the topmost part of the wicket. I am happy that such a raw talent like aamir is a big fan of megastar Salman Khan.

Holi will boost the collections of K & S,a 45cr first week on the cards and may even touch 60cr by the end of 2nd weekend,may be difficult to touch 80cr unless Rocky Handsome as for Batman vs Superman no one can reject this film,i will watching it on Saturday.

it was stupid to release the movie during the cricket matches. they shoul have released it one week earlier and clash with tera suroor. it would have made similar or even more numbers as neerja
now the movie has huge competition with rocky handsome and batman v superman
Neerja had its advantages. But Kapoor n Sons also had the advantage of hit music plus the star value of Kapoor n Sons was greater than of Neerjas in which there was Sonam only who is less hyped than Alia.
Inspite of all its benefits I still cant believe that Neerja crossed 70 cr which is a really huge achievement. So even if Kapoor n Sons crosses Neerja still for me Sonams achievement will be higher than that of the Kapoor n Sons cast. And not taking anything away from Kapoor n Sons which is performing really well.
So will it beat race to become highest grosser of the month?????????????
