Sonam Kapoor’s Neerja is all set to cross the 70 crore mark at the domestic box office. In fact, the film could eventually get close to the 75 crore mark, if it sustains well in Week 4. There are no major releases this week, so Neerja has an 10 more days to collect as much as it possibly can, before the release of Kapoor & Sons on March 18.
Neerja is now the third highest grosser of Sonam Kapoor’s career after Prem Ratan Dhan Payo and Bhaag Milkha Bhaag. It’s also the 2nd highest grosser of 2016, after Airlift.

The film is not just a major commercial and critical success but will remain in public memory forever and is the best possible tribute to a braveheart who sacrificed her life for hundreds of unknown people

I’m happy for the film. A female oriented movie crossing 70 crores in India is huge. Sonam is 3rd actress to deliver a ‘SuperHit’ on her own without a well known male face after Vidya (Kahaani) and Kangana (Queen).
Really happy to see such collections for deserving movies. Till neerja, I never thought she can act, but she proved me and many wrong. She was fabulous. And off course shabana mam. Hats off.
Some people just cann’t what acting skill and misunderstand acting prowess of srk with overacting. They just can’t bear the truth.

Every movie has its own standards and understandings who ever will be the actor. Doesn’t matter. Every movie comes out with some message not every one has capability to understand all messages.

Neerja was a one horse race in the BO…no competition….I hope you still remember two movies that released 2 weeks before Drishyam….if you forgot I will help you to remember…the names were Bahubali and Bajrangi Bhaijaan both of which retained most of their screens and collections for many more weeks. So it was obvious a niche film like Drishyam won’t open great…but still the film made decent money with the sort of opportunity it got in the BO considering the competition it had and it was having healthy collections throughout.
2015-2016 proves masala films times are over now its time for content driven film salman golden phase(Before 2010) starting soon…

I think we need to factor in the real Neerja story is one that touched us all. Sonam did a magnificent job and the movie was fantastic. People want a good story – no matter who the star is. Jai Gangajaal faltered because of a bad story despite having everything in its favour. Neerja and Airlift are signs that there is a lot of room for content driven films.
