The title is pretty self explanatory. Who do you think is the most under-rated Actor (male) in the Bollywood film industry today?
Please, this is not for the likes of Shahrukh Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Big B or Aamir Khan. There are several other actor who are extremely talented, yet dont get their due. Naseeruddin Shah, Akshaye Khanna, Manoj Bajpai, Paresh Rawal, Om Puri.. to name a few.

Manoj Bajpayee. He is a very talented actor! He is a wonderful person! I love Manoj!!!
the first name that springs to mind is emraan hashmi.
this guys acting ability is far superior than most of the other so called top stars of bollywood. extremely talented charismatic powerhouse actor, very versatile. he can give any top 5 actor a run for the money. his track record of hits is pretty good too. i think he is the only actor to have given consistent hits in the last few years with very low profile low budget films. he can carry a low budget film on his own shoulders and has attracted a cult following amongst the audience.
i think he is very underrated in bollywood and should be given his dues. his acting is a tremendous joy to watch and you dont get bored with it (apart from the serial kissing bits), and in every shot he comes up with something different and fresh. he is without a doubt one of the best actors in bollywood today and he should be acknowledged as such and given credit. his only problem is that he is very shy and keeps a low profile. he doesn’t know how to market himself properly and is very poor at P.R.if he was media savvy and had good P.R. skills , i believe he could be one of the top 5 stars in bollywood today. neverheless his acting skills remain mindblowing. i feel he has the ability to play any role given to him, whether it be a angry man, romantic guy, a middle aged father etc. and he can play the roles better than anyone else and very convincingly.
the guy should be classed as one of the best actors in bollywood and the film industry should stop pushing him aside. i think a lot of the film industry folks are a bit jealous of his abilities as he is quite awesome and of course they will do anything to keep him in a low profile position and ignored.
he should be considered a star at least and given a lot of credit.
the other actor that i think is very underrated is paresh rawal. this guy is a walking talking acting machine. he is a lesson in text book acting and i think he is being ignored in bollywood. again this guy can also play any role given to him without a sweat. in fact he probably is the best actor in bollywood today. but very underrated.
naseer uddin shah has already secured his position in bollywood as one of the finest actors ever. i think everyone in bollywood respects him a lot and they all know he is a legend. i dont think he is underrated as such, but rather he keeps a low profile himself. i think the bollywood folks rate him highly and know he his probably in the same category as legends like amitabh bhachan etc. so the question of him being underrated does not apply. he is just keeping away from the bollywood scene and trying to lead his own life.
but emraan hashmi and paresh rawal are two of the most underrated actors ever. i think to a certain extent akshaye khanna also. i think he is also a very good versatile actor, naturally talented. his acting is effortless and so real.
i think its IRFAN KHAN! He was amasing in billu..

i think zayed khan!!! he is amazing…but no one talks abt him much
i think ashutosh rana is the actor for this category.he is very telanted.
I thnk Akshay Kumar is still a underrated actor he is being given the superstar tag but i thnk its not 4 his acting abilities its for some 500cr. plus money that he brought to bollywood in ’07 n plp like his entertainment.

i find him good in Action, Comedy & Serious but not very much while emoting romanctic roles…
Apart frm him Emran Hashmi n Paresh. Irfan khan, Nasir are not under-rated they r totally respected in bollywood for thr acting abilities…

I think, Emraan Hashmi is a talented boy and Bollywood industry does not promote this guy. His mostly films are good and all films have great songs.
I think it is John Abraham . He has surely gotten talent and look to be recognised more.

some of you have also mentioned the names of srk, akshay, hrithik, john. but these guys aren’t underrated !! they are already big stars and higly rated !! so please get your facts right.

Spiderman, Jimmy Shergill has the talent. He was brilliant in A Wednesday. The rest were IMO poor choices (doesnt include Manoj Bajpai and Irfan Khan).
And yeah, there is no place in such topics for the likes of SRK, Hrithik, AKshay etc!
Sham, Abhay Deol, very natural actor. His movies have not done well at the Box-office. Dev D did reasonably well, lets hope he gets his due credit.

i agree with the choice of abhay deol though. he is a very good naturally talented actor. has the pedigree to become a superstar. jimmy shergill – no chance. he may be a good actor but has no star quality unlike abhay. only suitable for character parts. thus, the question of him being underrated doesn’t even apply.
