Most Awaited Bollywood Movies: July – September 2013

The first two quarters of 2013 are over, and the year has been a disappointing one with only two Blockbusters and a string of medium budget Hits. Big releases like Race 2 and Himmatwala have left everyone underwhelmed. The third quarter (July to September) looks promising as many big budget films starring the biggest superstars are slated to release.

Let’s look at the 10 films which are slated to release in the third quarter, that have us excited. [This is Part I of the list]

Bollywood Movies in the 3rd quarter of 2013

Lootera: Vikramditya Motwane bestowed everyone with one of the Best Debut Hindi films of any director ever – Udaan. Now, he’s back with a period love story set in the 50s era Bengal. Starring Ranveer Singh and Sonakshi Sinha, the film has already impressed one and all with its moody and atmospheric trailers and music. The only thing going against Lootera is the high budget. With a total investment of around 60cr, it will be a difficult job for the makers to recover all the money spent.

Bhaag Milkha Bhaag: This is without a doubt one of the most talked about films of the year. The trailer released almost 7 months before the release of the film and raised the buzz. Farhan Akhtar seems tailor-made to play Milkha Singh and the commitment he has shown in building his physique like that of the legendary athlete is admirable. Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra made a decade-defining film like Rang De Basanti but followed it up with a dud like Delhi 6. Here’s hoping Bhaag Milkha Bhaag is as good a film as RDB!

D Day: Nikhil Advani has had one major high and some major lows in his life. He burst into the directing limelight by delivering the Smash-hit Kal Ho Naa Ho, but when his next few films started faltering, it made everyone put the credit for the success of KHNH on Karan Johar instead. But, Nikhil’s latest film D-Day has made everyone stand up and take notice due to the very appealing and fast-paced trailers. The premise is also innovative. And the cast includes talented actors like Rishi Kapoor, Irrfan Khan, Huma Qureshi and Arjun Rampal to name a few. We think this film has the potential to surprise a few people.

Chennai Express: SRK is acting in an action masala commercial film after a long gap of 6 years. Rohit Shetty is in charge of direction, and the in-form Deepika Padukone is SRK’s co-star. This time SRK is enjoying a holiday release and a solo release at the same time. The promos have been liked by the target audience and trade analysts are expecting a few records to be broken by Chennai Express this Eid.

Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai Dobaara: Having gone through a release date change and a title change just 2 months before the release of the film, Team OUATIMD is confident about the fate of the film. Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai was a big hit and the sequel is expected to get the franchise up and running once again. Akshay Kumar, who hasn’t had a 100cr film in the last one year, teams up with Imran Khan and Sonakshi Sinha for this film. The soundtrack has been composed by Pritam and is expected to give the film’s collections a boost.

Stay tuned for the next five films of the list (you can predict the 5 films too if you want). And in the meanwhile, tell us which film(s) are you most looking forward to, and what are you expecting from each of these films?

Part 2 of the Most awaited movies between July and September will be published tomorrow.

  • vek
we cant add this youtube likes ,views and polls to boxoffice collection.
ouatimd will be a bigger hit than ce for sure.

  • @vek
    JTHJ-
    youtube views-more than 55 lakhs
    youtube likes-39000+
    lifetime domestic collections-101 crores

    ROWDY RATHORE
    youtube views-more than 25 lakhs
    youtube likes-6000+
    lifetime domestic collections-133 crores
now see the difference,,and think of it.these kind of polls and views can not make even 0.00000000001% difference in collecions.#fact.

  • @Danish oh really??did you see the collections of Himmatwala and Policegiri??it means people don’t like masala films.so CE is all ready a disaster.
just chill bro.don’t become jealous.just support your fav.’s film.don’t degrade others.

  • @samar rowdy rathor is a massala film and solo holiday release on the summer vacation. But col 133cr, jthj less screen class film duration 3hrs with clash but still col 122cr or 102cr. Yjhd summer release col 190cr. I think you understand the difference. Youtube likes always help to get extrodinary openning in multiplex.

  • one and only once upon a time in mumbai again.every srk fans predicting 170-180 crore.haha first let him cross 120 crore then we will talk.

  • @Samar .. Great analysis… What u saying is right so is krishna but what made me post all this is the haters comment against CE, every alternate comments has some negativity against CE….. I’m eagerly waiting for both these movies.. lets hope both do wonders @ box office .. and guys no hrt feeling chill

  • @Indicine Team……….Great work….I request you to publish the top 5 Bollywood actors in Indian & Overseas markets…Its been a year now since last list….

  • @romance express oh thank god you told me that rowdy rathore was “HOLIDAY” release.i thought it was non holiday release.as it had records of highest opening day, weekend, lifetime.which are now with YJHD which is another non holiday release.
and for your kind information, rowdy rathore released in 2700 screens,,while JTHJ in 2500 screens.now 200 screens don’t make that huge difference IMO.

  • OUATIMD will become the highest crosser of the year and ever highes colletion film of akki sir’s life.

  • @Vek

now the voting results has changed…

    Chennai Express (47%, 1,350 Votes)
Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Dobaara (41%, 1,166 Votes)
Bhaag Milkha Bhaag (9%, 261 Votes)
    Lootera (2%, 53 Votes)
    D Day (1%, 33 Votes)

so does that mean CE falling from 61 % to 47 % ……has actually reduced the Buzz of Ce ????

please make some sense some 3000 people don’t make a movie Hit…out of these 300 people 2500 people might be from Outside India.

  • @samar jthj 122cr, rr 133cr just 11cr difference with clash, plz don’t say wrong about jthj.
