Mohenjo Daro Box Office Collections in 4 days

Hrithik Roshan’s Mohenjo Daro is sustaining reasonably well at the box office and the percentage of growth and drop over the extended weekend was quite similar to Rustom. But the problem remained the same, while Rustom is performing at a very high level, the collections of Mohenjo Daro are way too low to give the film any chance of recovering costs.

The fate of the film will be dependent on how well it performs on Tuesday (today). Anything less than 4 crore will be curtains for the film, while a strong hold at around the 5 crore will mean it could go on to cross the 70 crore mark.

A hugely disappointing total on Friday raised fears that Mohenjo Daro will be the biggest disaster of 2016, but the growth over the weekend has probably pushed the film from ‘disaster’ to ‘flop’ territory.

It still has one open week at the box office and a strong hold on Tuesday will mean it’ll retain more shows than it otherwise would at multiplexes in Week 2.

  • Way too much negativity for this film killed its chances! Hrithik needs to do more movies! Wasted his talent terribly by being way too choosy and then not going out to pick the perfect film!

  • Somewhere down , I believe industry is not united . Ya Mohenjo-Daro is no way a claasic but it deserved solo holiday release

It had that scale , grandeur and big budget movie feel.
Same goes for bajirao , it deserved solo release, dilwale clashed ,but bajirao turned out to be a modern day classic and that is y it collected wat it did but my point is a y can’t a movie as big as bajirao can’t get a solo weekend.

Everyone in industry is selfish , be it srk (dilwale , jthj etc) salman (sultan -raees scene) aamir (pk and bombay velvet) or akki who clashed a relatively small movie with Mohenjo-Daro or ajay.

Now again I believe shivaay should be given solo diwali weekend , it has that scale and a recognised star but again adm will spoil the show and if in case shivaay turns out to be an avg movie ajay will suffer huge loss.

  • The so called ‘debacle’ of Mohenjo-Daro is more of a hype created by media.
If a film is putting 10+ cr on its fourth day (though it was a holiday but one should also consider the fact that it is facing stiff competition from Rustom) , then the WOM is certainly not that bad what it is being projected.
I still hope, Mohenjo-Daro will put a respectable total by the time it ends its box-office run.

  • Those dreaming that Kaabil will postpone are wrong. Hrithik will destroy Raees on Republic day.
    Raees should move, not Kaabil.

  • This just shows how much a clash can affect a movie. Even a decent trailer, and a solo release on non-holiday would have resulted in a 100 cr plus total, I’m sure of that after seeing how the movie is sustaining. The media was making it out like the movie is an absolute disaster.

  • Good to see ..Mohenjo daro deserved it….itni buri bhi nhn jitna critics ne bataya….hrithik ka solid performance hai…aur rahman sir ka music outstanding hai…..

  • Both the movies (MJ and Rustom) have received mixed to negative reviews but its the pre-release negativity which harmed Mohenjo-Daro the most.
Rustom should have been extra-ordinary in terms of content in order to dominate over MJ the way it is dominating now. Though it is an average movie, still it is leading the clash with a distance.
Then what is the deciding factor ?
No need to say , Rustom had already won half of the clash with spectacular trailer and wise promotional strategy and remaining half was accomplished with poor trailer, script and promotion of Mohenjo-Daro.

  • Actor’s biggest grossers

    salman-BB(320)
    ajay-Singham 2(145)
    deepika-CE(220)
    hritick-k3(175-180)
    ranbir-jawani(178)
    ranveer-mastani(185)

    aamir khan-pk(340)

    akki kumar-rowdy(130 (LOL)

  • Mohanjodaro will be a flop komal nahata said it will incur a minimum loss of 65-70 cr
Rustom will be a super hit lifetime 120 cr +
    2016 is akshay sir year

  • Should collect around 80 crores…@ indicine has hritik signed alauddin khilji role of slb padmavati ? Plz confirm it….nd @hritik Plz Plz sign it it is a role of a lifetime…..

  • People associated with the movie were unconvinced themselves. Only the ego factor made them clash. Hope Kaabil shifts.

  • It is certainly not as bad as negativity has surrounded it. Poor buzz was the main cause. If the buzz was good then probably with same reviews it would hve done 80 instead of 40cr.

Also this collection is more due to hrithiks star power. even with so little buzz film has not crashed completely. His very good performance in the film is also a reason for such decent hold.

  • Monday was holiday still it drop 14%…..and Hrithik fans bark on khans when they release their movies on EDX holiday……there is no use to give EDX holiday to Hrithik……lol

  • Nevertheless , one or two failures won’t cause any harm to the stardom of a superstar like Hrithik.
He will surely bounce back with Kaabil (irrespective of it’s release period).
Though, during the course of this clash, he would have realized how many ‘actual’ well-wishers he has in this industry.

  • watched Mjd today. It was a nice movie if not excellent.
Critics, media and Bollywood ruined this epic movie.
