Mithunda is someone every producer looks for. The executive producer of My Name Is Anthony Gonsalves was startled when Mithun’s demands for a princely feast was just vada pavs and missal for his family!
Mithun’s family lunch on the sets of My Name Is Anthony Gonsalves had the executive producer doing some mental calisthenics about the film’s budget. Expecting his pockets to be lighter by 3,000 bucks, he was pleasantly surprised to see Mithun ordering lunch just worth Rs 126!
Mithunda was shooting for E Niwas’s film at Mukesh Mills when he broke the news to the executive producer that he has invited his entire family for lunch on the sets that day. Says a source, “Mithunda told the EP that the menu would be decided by him and that every single member of the unit must join them for lunch. Mithun also asked him to set up tables by the sea for an elaborate lunch.”
The EP’s head whirled at the thought of his already tight budget going haywire as visions of a lavish five-star feast floated in his head. Meanwhile the cast, which includes Pawan Malhotra and Nikhil Dwivedi, was already salivating at the thought of a different menu from the regular set ka khaana.
The EP set up a drill ? three assistants were to run to three different five-stars as per Mithunda’s wish. He figured he’d be about 3,000 bucks lighter, a significant sum for a small-budget film.
Then the star spoke. The EP couldn’t believe his ears as he heard, “Please order missal and vada pavs for lunch.”
Director E Niwas s, highly amused, says, “If he makes a demand we were all prepared. It’s a small budget film. But when I heard him ordering vada pav and missal, we were amazed to see how down-to-earth he is. We had a good laugh over what we were expecting and what it turned out to be.”
