The release of Shahid Kapoor’s Mausam directed by his father Pankaj Kapur has been postponed by a week. For a long time now, 16th September was locked as the release date. Unfortunately at the very last moment, the makers had to push the release by a week as the Indian Air Force denied the NOC (No objection certificate) which is necessary if the Censor Board has to pass the film.
What this means is, Mere Brother Ki Dulhan which opened to a good response during the weekend and sustained well over the weekdays, is all set for a strong second week. The delay in release of Mausam will also help Salman Khan’s Bodyguard, which should now cross the 140 crore record of Dabangg.
Sadly, the producers of films like Speedy Singhs, UR My Jaan, Yaara O Dildaara and Hum Tum Shabhana would be worried. It was a week filled with small releases, but the release of Mausam will affect them in a big way. With 2 big films going strong and a third releasing the same weekend, the smaller releases of 23rd September would probably be left with no screens at multiplexes.
A couple of those films are likely to be postponed, we will keep you updated. Do follow us on Facebook or Twitter (see below).
Update: Received an e-mail that the release date of Mausam will be confirmed tomorrow. The movie will be shown to the ‘Indian Air Force’ tomorrow morning in Delhi, if they clear it, it’ll release as previously scheduled on 16th.
Update: Confirmation – Mausam will release on 23rd September, postponed by a week. Confirmed at the Press Conference.
