Salman Khan’s KICK has done well to beat Shahrukh Khan’s Chennai Express in four circuits even though it released on a non-holiday. In East Punjab, Kick managed to collect about 10% more than Chennai Express, Rajasthan was slightly ahead, Bihar was record-breaking and Orissa too was good.
However the difference between the two films were the biggest circuits. Chennai Express was way ahead in Mumbai circuit, where business was affected by rains and Ramadan period. Delhi/UP too was about 10% lower, even though the opening that KICK got was spectacular, it dropped evening onwards.
The other big difference were South circuits like Nizam, Tamilnadu and Kerala. The fact that KICK was originally a telugu film probably affected business. Chennai Express was record-breaking in Tamilnadu and Shahrukh Khan is the king of West Bengal.
Overall, the two films were around the same considering the fact that Chennai Express got a holiday release, while Kick released on a working day during Ramazan.

Why nut fans are comparing with the collections earned on eid national holiday with pre eid working day release. If kick was released on Eid Tuesday, just imagine what the business of Kick will be. But releasing the film on Friday was a wise decision for overall collections.

Kick has beaten Chennai express in some circuits inspite of non holiday release is a big achievement.Looking at some comments above is surprising that how can some people don’t even have common sense that any big superstar movie will collect less if released on non holiday.Chennai express had many positives compared to kick like
Kick=Salman khan while
CE=Shahrukh khan+Deepika+Rohit shetty+holiday+Rajnikanth’s tribute etc.
please dont give comparision betwen Dhoom 3 / krrish 3 ..then their will be insult for star like salman khan …
to be honest Salman khans golden days started from Dabangg and ended with dabangg2 .
kick will collect 180-190cr .
or less than this if we Aamir fans force it down by negative publicity .like salman fans and srk fans does during Dhoom3
after all KING IS KING.IF KING KHAN would have got 4000 screen in 2013,then just imagine,definitely CE would have the 1ST 300CR FILM OF 2014. now just look at @indicine and other salman fans how they started giving excuses even though they know very well kick got far higher more screen as well ticket price.not only that thing as salman again hug with KING KHAN , for the reason why kick at least surpass 20cr,lol.otherwise it would have a huge flop like jai ho.don’t compare this highest 2nd most flop giving actor with THE KING OF BOLLYWOOD.

see the difference is not much…since krrish 3 released pre diwali so it was also affected like kick..
so it can’t be said a very gud opening 4 kick…
@Indicine with all respect to ur site….I think BoxofficeIndia.com is the most authenticated website as per as bollywood is concern ………From Jai Ho all producer are giving exact number previously it was BOI giving one number other giving always 2-3 cr more…Krish 3 was a classic case…As per BOI D3 is higesht 31.48 after that Ek tha Tiger 30.92 and then CE 30.48 cr…now Kick 26.4 cr ……Consider that its a Non Holiday and pre EID realese……..and its only released 4000 screen in India which maybe 100 more than D3 and 200 more than CE …..Ek tha tiger was 3200 screen release …..
CE had a southern flavour which probably meant northern circuits (while still big) weren’t as huge compared to rest of the circuits
Day by day, indicine is crossing heights of shamelessness. Was this a fair comparison?? Have you included all the factors?? Why you forgot to mention the number of screens of these two films?? Kick released on more than 1000 screens than CE. And why spouting about pre-Ramdan again and again?? Did you mention pre-diwali period when many SRK/HR movies lost their collections because of Laxmi Pooja?? Seriously folks, again I’m telling better open a PR agency to promote Salman Khan , rather running this website. Totally disappointed by the way of reporting.
Lol could not even break dhoom 3’s opening , well it dosent even matter if its a sequel to successful fanchice or its ramazan period cuz this movie got huge no. Screens and some were shouting 40cr!!!! LOL

@indicine, in the above article, u considered many factors such as non holiday period, torrential rains in Mumbai and the fact that it was a Telugu film originally which made the Nijam collections lesser than expected. Well, all these are true but kick released in 500 screens more than Chennai
express and I also heard that its ticket prices were comparitively higher.

In south only sharukh khan is popular because he is acted in tamil film ‘hey raam’ with kamalhaasan and maniratnam directed film ‘Dil se’.and also from ninties onwards he was allways considered as no 1 in bollywood.
Four Years Ago On Diwali Ra 1 Collected 19.5 Crores On diwali laxmi puja Day On Just 2700 Screens & Low Ticket Prize .

It was below expectation! i’ve predicted it should collect around 28-29 crore (non Holiday). It still has a chance to touch 200 crore mark but for this Kick has to trend well on week days and especially on sunday and Eid day. where is @arjunkapoor :P
