SOS was doing much better in north india & JTHJ was doing exceedingly well in Mumbai, Maha. so we all know JTHJ lost lot more than SOS due to bombay maharashtra BANDH.
pure & simple. 9 crores may be minimum. JTHJ came close to breaking 20 crores collection for a day. That “bumper” Sunday could’ve even had 22 crores that JTHJ missed out.
we all know 2nd Sunday can never be “bumper” but JTHJ could make up lost ground.
Very imp for a 3 hrs romantic movie BO collection is not STOPPED for anyone’s death. Its not like 2 hrs masala SOS where people just get back in the cinemas for cheap laughs and item songs.

Asoka was a real historical figure. Asoka was a movie which was lot more drama. VEER was action adventure without any historical significance so tons of foot tapping dance numbers to sell the movie.
Only similarity btw Veer & Asoka is they are “PERIOD” based. VEER is based much more interesting modern period.
Asoka is a drama, VEER is action-adventure. two different movies. dont get confused.
Asoka’s equivalent is Mangal Panday movie.

I will never complain about VEER if it was in the catagory of RA.ONE budget of 115+ crores & it collects 123+ crores (tamil telugu BO incl). Breaking 100 Crores in 8-10 days is still very tough to break even. But 45 Crores VEER should’ve been broken just by sallu mass fan following. Even they abandoned him.
YUVRAJ is even Worse !!!
Now replace Sallu with SRK in VEER. You will see SRK’s VEER breaking MNIK’s 75 Crores & be atleast called a HIT with 80-82 crores lifetime BO just by SRK fans as the VEER movie was just plain bad.
Indian movie fans, SRK fans are willing to sit through 3 hrs of SRK boredom like MNIK & still make it a HIT but Sallu fans reject him outright if he isn’t casted in a masala remake or pure masala movie with chartbusting item number. also movie had to be 2 hrs in length.
Thats the real star power of SRK.

If no competition from SOS, JTHJ could’ve gone over 160+ but thats another story.
