The final opening day collections of Jab Tak Hai Jaan (JTHJ) is lower than expected. The film has collected Rs 13 crore nett on Day 1, making it the 9th highest opening day ever.
As expected, after a excellent start on Tuesday morning, business declined considerably for the afternoon and evening shows. Competition from Ajay Devgn’s Son Of Sardaar didn’t help either.
For the industry, the two films released on a record 4600 screens and it was easily the best Diwali day ever. Today (Wednesday) will be massive for both films.

But the true potential of the movie would be seen on November 15. In the North, JTHJ is pulling crowds only because it’s a YRF movie. Also, there’s publicity around it. But word of mouth is not good, and the movie is too lengthy. Son of Sardaar, however, is an out-and-out entertainer and is getting a better response in mass centres,” Malik said.
