Salman Khan’s Jai Ho has collected Rs 17 crore at the domestic box office on Saturday. Single-screen business witnessed drops in the range of 10-15%, while multiplexes picked up marginally.
Even though the film did pick up towards the end of the day, the occupancy at big city multiplexes continued to be way below-the-mark on Day 2. The average all-India occupancy at multiplexes was a poor 30-35%
However, after a fantastic start on Friday, single-screens were rock-solid with normal drops on Saturday.
Like mentioned in our box office report last night, today (Sunday) will be the biggest test for Jai Ho at the domestic box office. The film has opened to better occupancies all over today, even multiplexes were up by 10-20% from yesterday.
But with all-India net box office collections of less than Rs 35 crore in 2 days, even a fantastic Sunday would only take the film to around 55-60 crore in its first weekend. Considering the price that the film has been sold at and the opening that it has taken, Jai Ho will need a good 2 week run to emerge a winner at the box office.
The reports are good, but will that lead to family audiences coming out to watch the film from Monday onwards – is the big question. In today’s times, for a film of this magnitude, a good response at single-screens alone isn’t good enough, multiplex business is crucial to its success.
Khans take all the big holiday slots of the year,see they are already booking holiday slots of 2015,so insecure they are!!!
And then you call Ajay and Akki a flop actor..There is no reason that Special 26 would’nt have grossed 100crs had it released on 3500-4000 screens and a holiday weekend.
ZNMD was a deserving film,but got to 90crs despite competition with singham,murder 2.. ,Singham would have collected above 130crs if got a good release!!!
Where The Big Films Like Dhoom 3 and Chennai Express had Ticket Price as Much as 900 RS and 400+ RS Respectively. For Jai Ho It was Not Even Close 350 at Highest Price. Jai ho was an awesome movie. I am not a salman fan and still loved it, it had a bit of everything from romance to drama to few breath taking action and last but not the least was the honest and good message at the end.
People are feedup now. Big Examples Himmatwala, Boss, Beshara, OUATIMD Now Jai Ho.

i am going to state something about the film nd its ticket price.
READ IT CAREFULLY 1.As the film is crap one,multiplex audience do n’t like this,then why they buy the ticket at high price,only hardcore masala fans will go to watch it.for this reasn theater owner cut down the ticket price to attract people,atleast audience can sit in AC for 2hour nd 25min at low price.due to above reasn multiplex occupancy is abt 50-60%
2.mass people dn’t see what the script is!they just watch film time to time.for reasn single screen occupancy rate little bit more
3.a film which is made at a cost 80 cr nd sold it a whoping 1.1 bil,they never give ticket at low price.

I will be pleased if it can cross 180 Crores and emerges a Super Hit.
Consider the following factors: 1) Jai Ho is an out and out non-festive and non-holiday release, 2) Ticket Price is one-third of CE and Dhoom3, 3) No Big Casts (except for Salman Khan. And it’s just the film of Salman Khan and Tabu), 4) Not So-Good-Music (Except for Armaan Malik’s Compositions), 5) Salman became a victim of controversy right before the release of his film.
I felt Sohail’s direction was good but he should have cut some action scenes and added more comic scenes.
On the other hand, SRK’s only non-festive and non-holiday release in years was MNIK. How much did it collect? Now SRK fans will say it was because of Thackerys and Shiv Sainiks..Here, Jai Ho has more against it: Saifai Case and Modi Case..Besides, if we look back the history of SRK’s blockbusters, most of them were released in Diwali. So, should we say SRK is nothing without Diwali???
If CE had been released in a non-holiday period with such hiked ticket price, not many would have gone to watch it. Since it was a festive period and needed some sorts of entertainment, people were not reluctant to spend money.
Talking about Agneepath and YJHD, both were multi-starers and of Dharma productions. Both had good music and high production values. Yet, Jai Ho will cross their collections I think.
Jai Ho was released in 4300+ Screens. But it was no good for the film because of the normal working-day, people could not manage to go and watch it. Besides, releasing in more numbers of screens means the numbers of audiences also got shared in respective regions.
Anyway, it will be rock steady and will go to collect more than 180 Crores and set a record among non-festive and non-holiday releases. As it has been getting good feedbacks and positive WOM!!
