Jai Ho Saturday (Day 2) Box Office Update

Jai HoJai Ho continued its steady run on Day 2 at the domestic box office. The film had a slight drop at the single-screens in the morning, but there are reports that multiplexes have picked up from late afternoon onwards.

Tomorrow is a national holiday (Republic Day and Sunday), so the advance booking for Saturday night shows is much better than yesterday. Having said that, the film was still way below-the-mark in North and South India. Jai Ho has performed poorly in Andhra / Nizam and other south Indian circuits, probably because the audience has already seen Stalin – the original Telugu version starring Chiranjeevi.

Very early estimates suggest that the Saturday business is likely to be slightly higher than Friday – in the 18-19 crore range, could go higher if the spot-booking at multiplexes picks up for the 10 – 11PM shows in major cities.

Sunday is likely to decide the film’s fate at the box office. If the growth in business is good / excellent, it would mean that the film will sustain on Monday and do well in the long run. Else, distributors will suffer heavy losses as Jai Ho has been sold for high prices.

For the first time since Salman’s golden run started with Dabangg (2010), a film of his is likely to rely on word-of-mouth publicity to carry it through to safety.

  • it will create history in coming days wait and watch it collects less because of full on working day.i think january period is very bad for business.if any other actor in jai ho then it would collect 10cr but just because of salman,s starpower it collect that.

  • @TS and @anupama not Chopra -Even worse still to come as we will endure another crappy Diwali like 2011 + 2013 when CASH sequel releases so it will be a long year with crappy remakes….

  • @MG Talaash collected 90 cr in the middle of a cramped month where crappy masala films like SOS, K786 and that Maya Memsaab remake Jab Tak Hai Mojo released…… Oh yes that too on a non holiday and in an off beat genre.

You can talk nonsense if you want against Jai Ho but Talaash was the best film of 2012 with splendid performances from one and all actors…

If you wanna debate it then Im ready but please be ready to accept defeat before hand as I will make you eat your own words… Loser

  • @SS Stop talking nonsense- look at your comment, you fool what about Ready 2011, non holiday but still a Blockbuster….!

  • Watching the film tomorrow and read so many positive reviews that my expectations are higher than normal.

Bhai roxXxXx but haterz in shock as film has picked up today… Lol burn haterz

  • jai ho is really very good film and here in pakistan only salman fans can watch jai ho so insha allah jai ho break all the recordss of all movies

  • That’s why I Love AKSHAY KUMAR…….He has the guts to release his movie at Whatever Date…..Whatever Time…..Wherever Required…..Hats Off to Yu AKKI…….Yu Dun Get the Best Dates Still Give us Blockbusters,SuperHits,Hits……And that too Realeasing 16 movies in 4 Years……Weras dese Khans Released 12 Films in 5 Years……..Lol…….KHAN POWER……Anyone…..lol….Cause In Here AKSHAY RULES….!!

  • Jai Ho is really a very very nice movie… but i dnt understand how it collected only 17.25 crores…. i think salman should make his movies more hyped….

  • Salman support modi that isa reason i will
Nevet watch his moviein theater.that isa reason for flop ho.leatn lrsson from this
Sallu i like you but you dont need modi
To make your film supet hit you need fan

  • King Of Bollywood!
    Bull Shit :D
even it can’t break YJHD collection which is a non holiday release :p
    Jai Ho turns Flop Ho
    #GetWellSoonBhaitards

  • @aarush Akki can release 16 movies in the next 4 yrs for all I care but how many of those movies will the aam janta go to watch in reality…? Hes a throwback to the 80’s where actors repeated the same crappy dialogues on 4 different shoots for 4 different films on the same day but yet the directors were too scared to say “CUT IT What rubbish are you speaking Hero…?”

Akki rules nowhere, rules nuffin and even his khiladi image took a hammering with that fiasco of a movie called K786 and its even crappier sequel BOSS…

PS I got alot of time for Akki and consider his movies a must watch event and saw those above movies in theatres plus OUATIMD and HF2 but its silly fans like you and that fraudster ‘r420’ that give Akki a bad name here…!

  • @krazy Imam- dont worry not even CASH remake will save Thakur this Diwali as he will complete a hattrick of Diwali duds ie 2011, 2012 and 2014…!

Buddha should abandon Diwali altogether now and let Ajay or Rohit Roshan become the new torch bearers…!

  • Whatever the collection maybe but the movie is much better then Salman’s previous hits. It’s good movie trust me.

  • Hahaha. Maximum 100cr. That’s it.
@navin: still in your dream land??? Come out from there man. And who is a loser, it’s obvious. No need of reconfirming. Don’t worry, his upcoming films will be also having the same fate because his honeymoon period is over. Btw where is your twin “Sachin11” ? ? He absconded?

  • Its salman khan fim…if it wil not collect more than 120 crore but The upcomming fil kick which will break all the records So dnt take tension my dear friends or salman khan fans..

  • Guys you criticisers make him a star, but from jai hoi, he has not only earned reputation from metropolitan city(he had earned earlier) now earning name all over india (small locals also) just political, dont understand u judge the film by just collection
    Then just think
Jai ho 80 perc is single screen(90perc pack) i.e just 4 to 5 shows in aday costing between 100 to 130re not more(1st day collection 18 crore)
    Now dhoom3 or chennai express
90 perc is multiplexes(80 to85 perc pack) i.e min 15 to 20 shows in a day costing re 200 to 250(1st day collection 18 crore)
So Now if jai ho opted for multiplexes than believe it or not it should not be less than 40 crores approx
So start appreciating Your Stars rather than criticising him to make him a STAR OF THE DECADE

  • 16.5 crs on saturday as per boi.. So no jump on saturday.. Now at most it will be just a hit with 120-130 crs lifetime total and no chance of being a superhit or blockbuster..

  • @Aarush. Dont talk like a fool. Jai ho didn’t opened well bcuz it doesnt had much hype and due to Dabangg 2 ( which is a worst film I have seen in my life). Remember even tees mar khan opened with 13 crs and went on to do 60 crs bcuz it looked good and had hype.luckily Salmans last 4 films had huge hype be it Dabangg, bodyguard, ett or D2, each of this films had created huge buzz among audience except ready but music and wom had hugely favoured the fîlm and dabangg 1 performance too.
I always believed there is only 1 real superstar after Amitabh bachan till 2009 and it was Sharukh khan. Now bollywood has 2 real superstars Sharukh and salman but Salman is way behind Sharukh but you ppl believed Salman is bigger which is due to the hype created by his each and every film. Jai ho isn’t doing well due to less buzz.
If wom plays an important role in boxoffice collection then Dhoom 3 would be an average affair. Wom was important earlier but it’s reducing with each year. I think, from 5 years down the line, wom equals 0 importants. It will of all about films looks and trailer, songs, stars etc.

  • I will be pleased if it can cross 180 Crores and emerges a Super Hit.

Consider the following factors: 1) Jai Ho is an out and out non-festive and non-holiday release, 2) Ticket Price is one-third of CE and Dhoom3, 3) No Big Casts (except for Salman Khan. And it’s just the film of Salman Khan and Tabu), 4) Not So-Good-Music (Except for Armaan Malik’s Compositions), 5) Salman became a victim of controversy right before the release of his film.

I felt Sohail’s direction was good but he should have cut some action scenes and added more comic scenes.

On the other hand, SRK’s only non-festive and non-holiday release in years was MNIK. How much did it collect? Now SRK fans will say it was because of Thackerys and Shiv Sainiks..Here, Jai Ho has more against it: Saifai Case and Modi Case..Besides, if we look back the history of SRK’s blockbusters, most of them were released in Diwali. So, should we say SRK is nothing without Diwali???

If CE had been released in a non-holiday period with such hiked ticket price, not many would have gone to watch it. Since it was a festive period and needed some sorts of entertainment, people were not reluctant to spend money.

Talking about Agneepath and YJHD, both were multi-starers and of Dharma productions. Both had good music and high production values. Yet, Jai Ho will cross their collections I think.

Jai Ho was released in 4300+ Screens. But it was no good for the film because of the normal working-day, people could not manage to go and watch it. Besides, releasing in more numbers of screens means the numbers of audiences also got shared in respective regions.

Anyway, it will be rock steady and will go to collect more than 180 Crores and set a record among non-festive and non-holiday releases.

  • Word of mouth is fantastic, sat 30% growth in the business…Sun its showing 80-90% occupancy for morning shows and 95% occupancy for evening and night shows. Film will have huge growth. I have watched the film and loved it. There are 25% ppl r giving mixed reviews where as Dhoom 3 had 42% ppl giving mixed reviews. Film has a fair chance to cross 200 mark.
