Jai Ho First Week Box Office Collections

After a decent weekend with business similar to Ek Tha Tiger and Dabangg 2, weekdays were extremely crucial for Jai Ho. The film held up well on Monday, but Tuesday onwards almost every centre witnessed significant drop in business.

The Salman Khan starrer has collected around 87 crore in its first weekend and added around 29 crore (gross) from the overseas markets.

It remains to be seen if the film can go past Salman’s lowest grosser in the last 4 years – Ready which managed to collect Rs 120 crore in 2011.

  • Jai Ho Wknd 60.68 cr, Mon 9.50 cr, Tue 7.30 cr, Wed 5.80 cr, Thu 5.50 cr. Week 1 total: ? 88.78 cr nett. India biz only.

  • @indicine Well said!
Salman’s lowest grosser of last 4 years = Ready 125 crore
    SRK’s second highest grosser= Ra.One 120 crore LOL

  • Yo..that mean till Sunday…it will cross 110cr…..6 back back to back. Blockbuster Salman….and that to in a non holiday seasons and low ticket prices…. only Salman can do this…other wise other actors will struggle to cross 50.cr.

  • @indicine dont you think now the bar has come up around 175 cr minimum and till 2012 around 125 cr is good enough and u fget jthj did 120 cr with sos while barfee is not masala type movie and now onwards every big star movie need to do atleast 175 if it gates 2 open week specialy masala kind of movie and if jai ho able to put up 125 in week and 85 in weekend then what havoc really created by salmiran fans and so much bashing for ce and srk…AFSOS deserving movie cant achieve let wait for KICK whether it kick CE & D3..it will i think

  • Its a great film with such a Life Changing Message. We all should go and watch the film and start helping more and more people.
It will not be fair to compare the business of Jai Ho with Salman Khan’s previous films record. Every film has its own audiences and from that point Jai Ho itself a big success.

  • Every movie that @Indicine Team has mentioned had one factor or other like Clash, genre, etc. And barfi was not even expected to reach there.!! So why jai ho..!!?? That too 4500 screens..!!

  • JAI HO collection are below than expectation, but movie was above my expectation.so for me its a win-win situation because at the end of the day,a movie should be good to collect huge money. Jai ho is better than most of Salman films but collection are on downer side. @indicine i have read in newspaper that YRF signed Ranveer for the movie ‘fan’ as a lead in place of SRK,is that correct? If this is right than its a loss for Srk,it sound a different movie and i am waiting only this movie of Srk.

  • @indicine: Did anyone asked your opinion?? Tell me, when you came up with such comments about the collection of Aamir, srk,Hrithik movies?? Did you?? No…!!! So why you came now?? Your job is to post articles. This is a discussion website. Obviously every star has his genuine fans, who will justify their icon. So, you should not jump in between. If you want to support a particular star, just come up openly and say, that yes, we support Salman Khan. Then we won’t have any problem. But as you are running such a successful website, you should be neutral. Please don’t lose your credibility indicine…!!!

  • Those asking for Jthj i will give them the positive side of Jthj 1.Srk’s best genre which he succeed the most Romance 2.Legend director Yash Raj last film and his death somehow create sympathy factor 3.Katrina and Anushka in lead heroine 4.Diwali release with 6 days extended weekend 1st day-diwali (holiday), 2nd day national holiday, 3rd day Bhai dooj semi holiday and than follow a normal weekend on 4,5,6th day. Containing two weekend and 2500 screens clash and if there wasn’t any clash than also it collection would be just 110-120cr max, movie loved by only Srkians barring some exception 5.Music of A.r.rehman and Challa, saans was popular before release. 6.2 open week. Barring the death of Bal thakrey would contribute max3-4 cr in those time not have much difference. In salman jai ho barring first point everything against the movie. @yash there are not trademark of 175cr which you mentioned,it just a poor perception,it will be for holiday release of 3khans and Hr but not for non holiday releases of any of them

  • @jh its not about who joins the 100 cr club first or the 200 cr club first. i was talking about consistency. Raone received immense negative WOM but still managed to cross 100 cr at that time which was pretty good. here, the WOM is all around positive for Jai Ho yet it is struggling. and Ra.One received a hit status from the distributors themselves so no point in questioning that. Jai Ho even though it was made on a lower budget, it was sold to distributors for 130 crores and until it doesn’t earn that much, the investors are in the red.

and I wouldn’t call Jai Ho’s release as completely non-festive. it had a similar release to what Dhoom 3 had. and i still believe genre shouldn’t matter for these stars when it comes to crossing at least 150 cr nowadays with the business grown so much. the genre would only matter if we’re talking about 200 cr+. yes i don’t expect taalash to do 200 cr+ but it failed to even collect 100 cr and that too being an aamir khan’s first movie in 3 years after 3 idiots.

SRK’s movies have been grossing higher and higher with each release. thats the consistency I am talking about.

  • I think still collection is decent.
It’s certain that Joi Ho will cross all srk & hrithik movies.
(except last released movie of each actor, I have mentioned above)
130+ should be lifetime business. Hit

  • The fact is that Jai ho has underperformed big time cannot be declined by anyone . After 5 back to back blockbusters you don’t expect 87cr 1 st week ccollections from Salman . Salman is always concerned about single screen audiences but what about multiplex audiences . The larger chunk of collections come from multiplexes . You cannot blame low ticket prices for such collections because prices are marginally low for ex. I watched Dhoom 3 in 160 rupees and i also watched Jai ho in 160 rupees . The hike in ticket prices depends upon the theatres not on the producers /distributors . Some people boycotting Jai ho is not an excuse because if people would like to see a movie they will se it no matter what happens . I remember on 26th Jan 2012 Agneepath was released in 2650 screens and collected 21.76 crores and broke the opening day record of Bodyguard but in 2014 Jai ho is released in almost more than 4500 screens and collected 17.38 crores . Salman fans used to say Ce , K3 and D3 broke records because of screens if screens are the parameter of record breaking collections then Ett and Dabangg 2 would have easily broken records but did it happend no . Ett was released on 15th Aug 2012 on independence day and Eid coming on 20th other than that big heroine , big banner , Successful director , Good music , hike in ticket prices , 3 open weeks but collected 199 cr . Dabangg 2 released on 21st Dec 2012 with Christmas eve on 25th . Other than that Dabangg brand , successful heroine , good music , 3 open weeks but collected only 160 crores . Agneepath collected 85.88 crores in 8 days and Jai ho collects 86.78 crores in 7 days in 2014 despite being a bigger star , no. Of screens , ticket prices high as compared to Agneepath just 1 crore more . This shows people are fed up of masala genre there was a time when movies like wanted , Dabangg , ready , bodyguard ,Rowdy Rathore , Son of sardaar , Dabangg 2 collected huge money but now people are tired of this because Himmatwala , Boss , Besharam , Bullett raja have been flops . R Rajkumar was a small hit but crap content and Jai ho will

  • @indicine u don’t understand the point… it’s nt abt his movie earn 110 or 120 it’s abt beginning of end of masala mindless entertainer

    • @seema, dont think you’ve read the comment we posted on yesterday’s box office update. Yes, Salman losing his multiplex fan-base is the only concern apart from distributors losing money that they invested on Jai Ho.

Apart from that, like Raj Kumar Yadav said, one film not performing upto expectations wont affect Salman.

  • all this while Salman fans used to tell SRK fans to beat READY’s collection.. now beat that.. form is temporary.. KING is PERMANENT..

  • Some questions to the people trying to drag down the business of Jai Ho,

Even when Jai Ho flops (which won’t happen now), who will be affected badly?

    1) The producers of Jai Ho have already made a fat profit.

    2) Salman’s Stardom will no way be affected by this. When Ra.One was proven to be a debacle, did SRK’s stardom fall to the level of Bobby Deol, Nahin Na? Because they are established stars.

    3) It won’t also be a fact that the distributors will pay less amount for his upcoming films. And you know the reason.

Hence, why are trying to make the distributors and the exhibitors (that earn their livelihood by that means) face their end in red? What have they done to you? Ask yourself!

  • the collections are not great but not that bad considering all the factors.. yes as a salman fan i admit it has underperformed but not as bad as some of the haters are making it look.. n as indicine rightly pointed out srk, hrithik, ranbir second highest grossers are in the range of 120 crores.. salman has been consistently delivering in the range of 140+ crores.. take CE out of srk’s equation what has he got??? give salman an opportunity, let him come on eid with a grand film like kick n then if it underperforms u may say watever u want.. last year srk, hrithik, aamir came with huge n grand films on holiday n festive season n made records.. let salman have a go as well n then talk.. n i can bet u results will be in front of u.. as far as jai ho is concerned its doing decently but not great.. had it been any other star people n trade would have been saying great business.. but its salman n people n trade have huge expectations from him.. but one can also not deny many factors went against him n was let down by other people.. considering all this i would say jai ho has done well but definitely not by salman’s standard.. jai ho!

  • well said indicine. a fitting reply to the haters. look at them they are now crying like babies after your reply. i hope you haters got your answer. jai ho indicine.

  • @Indicine, I like your usage of the term “Under-Performed.” It is just that it didn’t work as much as people had expected from it. Because might have over-expected.

Is #JaiHo A Flop? Its Weekend Collection was more than the collections of any other Amir or SRK film but for CE & Dhoom 3.

Jai Ho- 1) [Bad Timing of Release after X’Mas and New Year] An out and out non-festive and non-holiday release, 2) Released in more Screens, 3) Ticket Price 30%-40% lower than CE and Dhoom 3, 4) Some Section of People are Boycotting it. 5) Low-ranking casts but for Salman and film-makers

CE and Dhoom3- 1) [Good Timing of Releses] Festive Releases, 2) Released in lesser screens, 3) Ticket Price: 40% Higher, 4) No one boycotted them, 5) High-Ranking Casts and Film-Makers.
Out of the above five-facts, only no. 2 is in favor of Jai Ho, while other four are against. And no.1, no.3, no.4. no.5 are in favor of CE and Dhoom 3, while only no.2 is against them.

These are not excuses but facts.
    In short, JaiHoSpreadingHumanity

I want to end with a few amazing words that Taran Adarsh Retweeted:

“Haazaro Aib Dhundhte Hain Hum Dusro Mein Is Tarah, Aapne Kirdaar Mein Hum Log Farishte Ho Jaise”

  • its not becos of modis comments…his meeting with modi were only to publicize the film ..however remakes and copies are not the flavor with megha and her friends .. we consistently make hue and cry about bad films.. whether it be dhoom 3 krish ce …all bad films must meet the same fate of flop…people should stop watching bad stuff and only go and see meaningful films

  • and nobody will remember jai ho..it has received a royal thrashing in 2014 and it has been hit hard by aam admi only who failed to turn up at the theatres..aam admi is also fed up of meaningless maar dhad and clichés in such movies…fie on those who in future want to come up with such movies in future

  • Salman fans like Virat Kohli are complaining about Krish 3 collections. According to boi.com Jai Ho lifetime collections will not reach even the first week collections of K3 lol.

  • @trooper very funny that Srk fan like u is talking of 100 crores bcoz i want to remind u that Aamir crossed 100 crores in 2008 while Salman in 2010 and your global star crossed 100 crores in 2011.lol

  • @megha ok u will not remember ‘Jai ho’ but we will always remember box office disaster but critically acclaimed ‘maya memsaab’.lol

  • 87cr first week is commendable after a poor start. Second weekend should come in at 20cr hopefully but overall a 30cr second week is a must now.

Salman should now consider Arbaaz more favourably in future and give Sohail a Kick on the bottom n let him make senseless movies outside the family…! Hes an embarrassment to the Khandaan, Veer, Hello Brother, Hello, Main Aur Mrs Khanna are poor films that would have been better if made on a smaller scale with new faces but Sohails still hanging onto big brothers coattails fir initial openings…! Arbaaz has proved hes the better filmmaker so dont mind him making mire films with bhai but not Sohail. Even Aamir dumped Faysal knowing he couldnt hack it so kudos for bhai for still persevering with one inept bhai but enough is enough.
Sorry to say but Sohail needs to flap his wings n make his own way in bollywood n leave the ppls bhai jaan well alone.

  • @mega pirate megha Dont cry crocidile tears sweetheart- its not like you ever visit theatres now is it after you publicly admitted to buying pirated copies of movies… If you trolling then fair enough but telling lies is not going to cut any mustard with anyone here so zip it n hike it out of here on your bike…!

  • @Dev now u r asking Salman to beat ‘Ready’s collection is a very bad joke by u bcoz Salman has crossed Ready’s collection 4 times with Dabangg 1,2,ETT and Bodyguard and 5 times if Ready is included while Srk has crossed Ready’s collection just once with CE.lol

  • @dev das reject- wow I liked your comment:- “form is temporary Sarkar is permanent” even though it should read ‘form is temporary but class is permanent’…!

Im gonna apply your rationale to the following case… Ok so we have Salman bhai delievering 5 back to back BlockBusters & Sarkar delivering 4 back to back hits/ above average/ flops… We then get an unusual event in last 6 months- a Crappy Express BlockBuster n a Jai Ho average fare… So Mr Einstein can you tell us who has the better form guide and who has the better class…?
