Let me start off by saying, Shahrukh Khan hasn’t really been at the top of his games since Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, which released more than 3 and a half years ago.
- He has not delivered a single blockbuster since 2009.
- None of his films have crossed the 120 crore mark in the domestic market, despite all of his films (except My Name Is Khan) releasing during the Holiday season.
- Back in his prime, the quality of his films were way better than what it is today. Post Rab Ne.., none of his films have sustained at the box office for more than 2 or 3 weeks.
Let us analyze:
Shahrukh Khan Movies
My Name Is Khan (2010): This was probably the most awaited film of 2009 and many were expecting it to cross 100 crore, as Aamir Khan’s last two releases had done 116 crore (Ghajini) and 202 crores (3 Idiots). It took a good opening and was critically acclaimed too, in fact the Karan Johar film was one of the best reviewed movies of 2010. However, this film crashed in the second week and ended with lifetime collections of Rs 74 Crore. Even Akshay Kumar, who was going through a rough patch, was able to deliver a solid-hit when Housefull grossed 75 crore during the IPL season.
Verdict: HIT
Ra.One: Like most SRK movies, this too was one of the most awaited flicks of the year. Due to the sheer amount of money spent. the hype behind it and the 5 day extended Diwali weekend; the trade was expecting this to cross 200 crore. Ra One opened well, it’s second day after release was a record for the highest single day collections (surpassed later by Ek Tha Tiger). But unfortunately, the film crashed after a week due to mixed/negative word of mouth. This film DID NOT CROSS 120 CRORE if you exclude regional collections.
Verdict: Above Average to HIT (some say the film has lost several crores)
Don 2: SRK’s first Christmas release took a good opening, although the trade expected the opening to be a lot higher. The film sustained for 2 and half weeks, did well at multiplexes but was a non-starter at single screens. However, its overall collections was once again below expectations as the film collected Rs 112 crore.
Verdict: Hit
Jab Tak Hai Jaan: SRK, Katrina, Yash Chopra, A.R. Rahman — it could not have gotten bigger or better. But who would have expected that the collections after the initial weekend would be on the same level as Son Of Sardar, even though the Ajay Devgan starrer released on fewer screens? Like every other SRK film, this too got good reviews, but 106 (BOI) or 120 (official) whichever figure you take, it was still below the mark.
Verdict: HIT
Chennai Express: This year SRK takes Salman’s EID slot. But he has a bigger challenge on his hands, as Akshay Kumar’s Once Upon A Time In Mumbai Again is also slated to release on the same day (August 8th). If both films have the same number of screens, then OUATIM 2 might just take a better opening as it’s the sequel to one of 2010’s most loved films and has great recall value too.
That brings me to the big question – Is Shahrukh Khan the ‘numero uno superstar’ that he once was between 1995 – 2009? Is his star power on the wane?

Don se panga lene ki galti mat karna……..all haters will eat their words……@rey well said……SRK’s star power cant be beaten even if you include the star power of all other actors……Its King Khan vs rest of Bollywood actors…..bring the competition on……where the hell were all these people when he gave some classics like CDI, Swades , VZ , Devdas, Mohabbatein etc…….nobody talked about collections at that time….now that he s not making movies which appeal to the masses everyone is pointing out the collections of his movies……give him typical commercial bollywood movie(like Chennai Express) + holiday + open week and you will see King size destruction at the BO…….dont forget Raone’s day2 record at that time and Don2 also got biggest non holiday opening (15-16 cr)……..A King will always remain a King….

soroop low budget hahk did 15 times more business than its budget and it was 5 times more than previous record sholay and almost 6 times more than 2nd best film mohra wch collect 12.5cr and abt mpk it also did 15 times more business than its budget and its only the film before hahk wch almost broke sholay but fell short with few lakhs… dude get ur fact first
@ Boss: Add the fact to the biggest hit of SRK: 125 crores budget 5 months of no-stop marketing budget at 50 crores. Hollywood Singers, Hollywood Plots, exclusive advertisement in Print Media, You Tube, Brand Tie Ups, Hoardings, etc. So the collection in initial days were only due to hype.
@ Soroop: Ask your Anupam Uncle to ask for the hand of Kajol. It was Salma Mania, and he breathed to the tee in the role of KKHH, and so called your Film Fare fraternity awarded Salman not Anupam, for the Best Supporting Actor Award.

@ Rey: Who have told you Ishq in Paris is not finding dates, it has other problems with Director, who had cancer. FYI, SK is only doing a song. And whatever the film is getting publicity, all due to him.
Beside, have you forgot the film – Billu, Dulha Mil Gaya, Pyar Ka Panchnama – SRK had full fledged role in 1st 2 films and last 2 films were under his banner

@u get ur information ishq in paris did nt release at tat tym because the budget of d film was more then wat distributors agreed to pay…..nd i never said ishq in paris is sallus film……bt if u keep claiming kkhh as sallus film then it wld imply tat ishq in paris or tell me o khuda etc are also sallu film….we never claimed heyy baby or saathiya as srks films…to imply tat dulha mil gaya or billu are srks films….nd even akki fans dint claim dtph as akkis film……..nd in billu srk had nly songs nd a speech at d end…..nd d songs of billu were big hits….infact love mera hit hit is d most watched hindi movie song on youtube with more then 40 million hits…….nd scnd mst watched indian song behind kolaveri di….nd as far as dulha mil gaya is concerned srk was nt even d scnd lead….though in dhobi ghat aamir was scnd lead i dont consider as his film……so there is no chance to consider dulha mil gaya as srks film……

since 2010,the indian audience has become blind,how can they make movies like ready,dabangg 2,ek tha tiger and bodyguard blockbusters?to the viewers of masala movies you guys are blind,and for those who still watches quality mnovies i salute you guys,i salute srk but after his chennai xpress which is a masala movie i wont support him anymore.

SRK is not even number 2, the number 2 slot is for Akshay kumar. Salman is number 1. Salaman is very very far from all other stars. He had 3 ALL TIME BLOCKBUSTERS in Dabangg,Bodygaurd and Ek tha tiger and BLOCKBUSTERS in Ready, wanted and Dabangg2.
SRK is a flop actor. his Ra.! is flop because, he invested 180 crores and got 115 Cr. It is big loss for distributors. MNIK was just average film. Don2 is just semi Hit film and Jab tak hain Jaan is also above average. The audience only watched due to late yash chopra last film. Yes, SRK is not a super star anymore. His ranking is below ranbir kapoor.

Shahrukh Khan has lost his star power due to the sheer fact that he has lost the value of respect he use to get from co workers as well as well wishers and fans alike (personal experience that I had with one of his fans 5 years ago), now what has happened is; it reminds me of a ”Simple Rule” made by God it is — If God and your ability takes you to the top he sees how you are behaving with people while you are at your peak, SRK used and mistreat them for his gains, never really considered people as a part of his life, gave importance to money all the time, throwing starry tantrums all the time, playing romantic roles every time which repeats his characters all over again. When his downfall started he didn’t learn the importance of his people that really cared for him and on top of that his drinking and smoking habits have made him look much older than he really is and arrogance is the main factor in his downfall from the grace.
Salman Khan has worked very hard to change himself like — Reporting to the shoots on time, quitting smoking and drinking for better results, focusing on work and choosing right scripts, involvement in all of his films, talking personal interest to see if any person is in a mess or needs a helping hand and above all his charitable foundations ”Being Human’s growth” as it is said he is a changed person now and I being a Salman Khan is very proud of him and Crores of Salman’s fans too are very much happy for the ”Robinhood Khan of the Hindi Cinema”
He never had any arrogance at at all especially with his fans :D. Focus and Hard Work has bought him back to the Top and he has is a name to reckon with!!!

Srks stardom is fading. Now everybody looks happy. Ab srk ka kya hoga??? I don’t understand y Akki fans commenting here who is not even comparable to saif nd ranbeer nd saif. Akki fans always giving lot of excuses like doing 5 movies, non release. What happnd to action replay, janeman, Aitraz, tees maar khan etc which released during holiday. 3 years back mink release on non holiday period which did more than s26. It’s already proved that Akki is not a big star like srk salman nf Amir nf hritik.

What is this obsession of continually negotiating popularity and power of Shahrukh?Are you crazy !He continues to excite many years.Dilip Kumar and Amitabh Buchan admit it, all over the world recognize it.But not in India must speak only for Salman Khan? For me Salman is not special at all.I don’t hate him or something ,but at all I don’t think he is best actor. Superstar yes,but better actor- NO. Ranbir,Hrithik and of couse SRK are much better than him.When he is nominated for a third of his films that have come out in a year or at least take a Filmfare let then talk.When he has a movie that continues to be successful even after 20 years, then.I watch “Bodygaurd”,”Dabangg 2″ and “Ek Tha Tiger” and honestly for me don’t have diffrent.He playd some way.Yes I like “Ek Tha Tiger”,becouse the story is very nice and Katrina Kaif,but other movies…not….Yes,they are little funny…but the best-no.SRK is diffrent every time-he can drama,he can comedy,he can action (Ra.One,Don 1 and 2),he can romance ,but not only….and his movies are NOT borring…….Whoever thought to be boring so you do not believe in true love and true game….I’m sure “Chennai Express”,”Happy New Year” and other next will be great and diffrent .Salman movies can have great success at the box office (in India), but that does not make them with nothing special.Some movies and some game from him.Sorry,for me that is borring and not intresting !
