Shamitabh has collected Rs 3.5 crore on its opening day at the box office, as per trade estimates. Eros International hasn’t released the official collections of the Amitabh Bachchan starrer.
Apart from Hawaizaada, which is the biggest disaster of 2015, our opening day predictions of Tevar, Alone, Baby, Dolly Ki Doli and Khamoshiyan have been accurate.

@Ajinkya, expect drastic changes to the predictions of Roy this week. When we get to know the final screen count and the impact of the cricket world cup, our predictions will be more accurate. Also, if Shamitabh was carrying excellent word-of-mouth it could have affected the business of Roy. Do not that predictions will be changed everyday until the day before release.

@Shail007, all movies are official collections. Eros has not released the official collections of Shamitabh. If they did, our predictions would have been even more accurate.
@Babaji, 6.75 crore was a typo. It was actually supposed to be 7.75.
Our resident not so strict n equally not so smart wannabe critic says his prediction of 4.5cr was fairly accurate to actual collections… Well being about 23% off the mark is not too bad considering when Rakesh ji used the same FilmKraft Manipulative KalKulator he was an extraordinary 28% inaccurate when reporting Jaadoo 3s collections…!
Good start nonetheless and heres hoping it wont be affected by bad wom or adverse negativity when our rajeev masand prodigy writes up his review…!

But @indicine, don’t you think that predicting every tiny low budget films like Khamoshiyaan might affect your prediction rate? You guys hailed it this time around, but it is really hard to predict opening day for low budget films.
@gj007, we can’t pick and choose. A lot of people in the industry follow the predictions very closely – exhibitors, distributors etc. As long as a film is getting a decent release, our predictions will be published. The business of Hawaizaada was impossible to predict. A film with landing cost of Rs 30 crore+ collecting 60 lakhs. Rs 1.25 crore was on the lower side, but actuals were less than half of that.
Hello indicine team +indian & Pakistani indicine lovers…i respect the great professional work of indicine team. i am also using a excell based prediction technique which i would like to share with you all…… STEP one On Thursday night i count friday mumbai city shows of all movies on bookmyshow website…… STEP two I calculate the percentage of shows each movie has out of total 1000 shows per day. for example shamitabh has 580 shows divided by 1000 = 58% …… Step three i multiply this percentage with 4000 (all india bollywood dedicated screens) to get screen count for that movie for example shamitabh has 2300 screens = 58% in to 4000….. Step 4 I calculate one day maximum bussiness potential by dividing screen count by 100 for example shamitabh 2300=23 crore per day on 100% occupancy……Step 5 since there was no strong buzz so i expected 10% opening and with evening pick up 15% average occupancy for first day for example shamitabh 23 crore per day * 15%= 3.5 crore first day STEP 6 multiply with 9 = 31.5 maximum life time bussiness THANKS

— Watched Shamitabh last night …it was close to awesome….a very interesting story of 2 Egoist persons.Amitabh’s performance was spectacular especially in post interval..he was terrific and so was dhanush..Dhanush hasnt uttered a single word but still he has managed amitabh’s voice very well .Akshara hassan was good but she still has to work a lot..if we crop out few unnecessary scenes it would have become a delightful watch and a very classy cinema.
Movie was all about its unique story line and individual performances ..annnnddd wat an acting by Amitabh…nailed it.
