Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, who has successfully achieved what he dreamed of, says he will work till people want to see him on screen.
“I feel I was in the industry at the right time and I am very proud and thrilled that lot of things are changing with the films,” Shah Rukh, 47, said during a press conference of Nerolac Paints, where he launched its new initiative “Change The Paint”.
“When I came in (Mumbai) that time it was only about romantic films. Now things are changing and the journey has been great. I will keep working till people want to see me,” he added.
In a career spanning two decades, the actor has achieved whatever he dreamed of. He says an individual should keep dreaming, but at the same time shouldn’t move away from reality.
“Everyday a new dream is born. It is nice to keep on dreaming. I dream to make different films, I want to see my kids healthy. But I feel you have to be rooted in reality before dreaming. Believe in reality at the first place and get your education first,” he said.
“Right now I am in a position where I can afford to do anything but when I just started off that time my dream was to have a house, car and everything,” he added.

Its better to have a dignified and graceful retirement so that whatever greatness you have achieved will not get diluted. @rupesh- I too am still baffled and bemused as to ‘how the hell did Saif win a National Award for his childish performance in Hum Tum!’ I loved Ranis role in the movie and man she was super duper hot in it but the whole media campaigning to get Saif the award did the trick for him. But now you say his mom was a jury member so I am now intrigued as to why this was never out in the public domain before.
Anyway National Award winners in the whole still deserve their award on the basis it is not rewarded to a ‘Superstar’ or lobbying or popularity contests. Past winners like Ajay, Kamal Hassan, Shabana Azmi as we all know can deliver riveting performances, so I say well done to them but the Saif award in 2005 still irks me as there were far more stellar performances than his.
@rupesh- sorry to say this but have you not watched Damini 1993 film? Watch it and watch it again just so that you will be convinced by how Awesome Sunny vs Amrish Puri performances were. Im sure if you watch it then you may say that you wouldnt begrudge Sunny winning it or even Amrish Puri for that matter. Wow Sunny Bhai rocked not just Amrish but the whole courtroom and the entire court shook its foundations. Now thats called real mardwala acting.

Aamir, Salman, Ajay and other fans can just keep dreaming. Your idols are merely trying to catch up with SRK. The world knows who ruled Bollywood from 90s till now. 2-3 good years and one or two big hits of others cannot topple the colossus who owned the marquee while other stars were sitting at home in depression!
If slightly lower collection of SRK films in recent years means he is finished then the pathetic collections of other stars’ films till 2008 mean they didn’t exist at all for all these years!
Other stars have just begun to build base in India now whereas SRK has evolved into a global icon and gets highest honours from foreign governments and agencies like UNESCO. He’s been declared one of the most powerful people in the world by Newsweek. He had risen beyond mere BO comparisons years ago!Others aren’t even powerful in India! What do their fans compare?
