Actor Shahid Kapoor is going through yet another low-phase in his career after a ‘Shaandaar’ debacle last year. However, offers continue to flow for the talented actor, who is yet to deliver a film that has grossed more than Rs 70 crore at the box office.
The new biggie that Shahid has been approached for, is the long-rumoured remake of S.S. Rajamouli’s Magadheera.
“I still have not heard the script and no, I haven’t signed the film yet. But if you are asking me whether I have been approached for the film, then yes, they have come to me. But I am yet to sit for a script narration” Shahid said.
The actor has also said that his next film ‘Udta Punjab’ is unlikely to have commercial appeal, but his film with Vishal Bhardwaj, he says, will appeal to a lot more people.
“I felt really passionately about the role I had been offered in Udta Punjab and about the world that the filmmaker wanted to create. I felt this film needed to be made and that it should be made, so I said yes to that film…. Rangoon is a lot more commercial than Udta Punjab. There’s a lot of time to talk about it because for that, people need to understand the film and for that again, Vishal sir needs to talk about it. He always chooses different worlds and when everybody expects him to make a film similar to his last one, he makes and he changes it. So, Rangoon will be one of those surprises.”
Shahid’s last film, ‘Shaandaar’ finished with lifetime collections of less than Rs 45 crore in India. With younger actors delivering big 100 crore grossers, it’s going to be now or never for Shahid.
Magadhira with Shahid….means first Rajamouli Sir’s movie which will flop. Who is this great guy who want to invest 100cr + on a 40 cr hero.
Udta punjab and rangoon looks classic. Please do magadheera’s remake as soon as possible.

What’s this with vishal bharadwaj movies. I haven’t even liked a single movie of vishal bharadwaj. His films r so boring. Still didn’t understand d movie kaminey. People watch movies for entertainment n not dark boring movies which he makes.

Shahid Kapoor is the perfect example of having all the abilities (Looks, acting skills, dancing skills, popularity) yet fails almost all the time at the BO. Wish he appoints someone with some brains to select the scripts for him. I mean…seriously one cannot be such a dud in the BO with all the abilities he has and around 13 years in the industry.

Watched Tamasha yesterday, such a fantastic movie. You will feel for ranbir’s character. He is a brilliant actor. It is just short of a masterpiece. Truly it deserved more at the box office. I was not a big fan of Ranbir Kapoor but now after Tamasha I have turned into his fan. The fact is movies like these are affected by piracy. I am ashamed to have watched pirated copy of this movie rather than in theatre. Films like ABCD 2 earn more 100 cr just because those movies cannot be watched at home(3D film plus dance). I am damn sure people who would have watched tamasha will be more than ppl who watched abcd 2, but in their laptops,phones,etc
@Rajesh, how much money do you pay them to write articles? Maybe you should pay them more to write what you want them to write? Your tone suggests they owe something to you. Nothing in this article seems to be negative to me. They just wrote the truth, or bitter truth in your case. Shahid isn’t even confirmed for the movie, they still wrote an article about it. What else do you want?
@ABCD2 . R u mad ? U said shahid is nothing. First watch haider n comment. His performance in haider is just epic. Shahid’s performance in haider is one of the best performance in bolleywood history. Yeh other actors also can give good performance if have done haider but cannot match shahid’s performance as haider. And onething ranbir, ranveer and varun r no doubt talent but shahid is more talanted then them. But he is just unlucky.
Udta panjab will be hit. Rangoon superhit and magadheera’s remake blockbuster.
@sasha…How many times you will say about Shahid haider performance,,,i know he had done fantastic job,,but one movie is not enough to get lifetime success…..vivek have given fantastic performance in Shootout at lokhandawala,sathiyaa,,,Madhavan have given performance in RHTDM,,,,Akshay khanna have given brilliant performances in tall,gandhi my father………you look at shahid other movies by keeping haider aside & think
No doubt sasha is talented,but his script selecting is worse.And dont compare him with aamir,he is not even close to ak.You cant place him with youngistaan actors,he is just 3yrs younger to hrithik in bollywood,but look where is hr n where is sasha.Anyway i dont think producers will invest that much money on sasha(remember bv)
