The Hindi version of Vikram starrer ‘I’ has collected Rs 2.1 crore on its opening day at the domestic box office (including paid previews on Thursday). The film has done well in the Mumbai circuit, especially in Mumbai city where the response was the best ever for a dubbed south Indian film.

In South Indian states like Karnataka and Kerala, the Tamil version of the film has collected more than the Hindi version. In the state of Andhra Pradesh, I opened to a phenomenal response on Wednesday (Pongal release) but business started to dip on Friday.
In Kerala, Shankar’s I has set box office records on both Day 1 and Day 2. Tamilnadu was outstanding too, but there are reports of the film not meeting the high pre-release expectations. As per reliable trade sources, I has collected around Rs 27 crore (gross) in its first 3 days in Tamilnadu. In Kerala, the 3-day business is around Rs 7.4 crore (gross).
I is a classic case of setting expectation too high.. According to me its a good film but people expected it to be a classic..which unfortunately its not.
Vijay is currently the thalaiva of boxoffice in south,unmatched stardom…
Even rajni sir could’nt break Kaththi’s record with linga and now chiyan vikram has failed to do so.
@Indicine, ‘I’ 1st day collections is 34.63 crores gross.’I’ telugu version sold to 36 crores WW and ‘I’ movie collected ?19.15 crores share(12.33 crs in AP&TG +6.82 cr in karnataka and overseas) in just 2 days in WW Telugu version.It is an All Time Record for not only dubbed Version but also for straight Telugu movies.

@Babaji it isn’t true.Rajnikanth is and always be the Thalaiva of Kollywood.Lingaa’s worldwide collection is more than Kathi’s worldwide collection.Even now Robot’s collection is beyond reach for any star.Also there is another star Ajith who is Vijay’s biggest competitor.

Why Boi don’t publishes I Tamil collection in Tamilnadu, andhra Kerala Karnataka resion which is setting records while they don’t hesitate to glorify punjabi movies. Why so much partiality.

Whatever I have heard from my friends they have loved Vikram’s performance which according to them is the best performance by any actor in recent times but the plot was quite predictable.Maybe high expectations is working against the film.

Also it got the highest opening for a film in Kerala at 3.05 crores in 225 screens..
Not nly that it has managed to beat Pk by a very big Margin in Bangalore where it collected 2 crores with 160 shows (Pk collected just above one crore with 300 screens)
There were chances that negativity regarding length n Lack of social msg may impact the BO but surprisingly it has got 70% even on 3rd day…

I’m following indicine from last 6 months but I’m commenting here first time. I think these Salman fans are very obsessed with SRK…. On every Article They use SRK’s name to get some likes….I think they love SRK more than Salman :P But Seriously these Salman fans are very cheap…. SRK fans are very good as compare to Salman fans.

There is no one in South who can match Stardom of Rajni sir n Kamal Sir… or for that matter whole India
Sure Katti was a Huge hit n made two records (Opening day n weekend) but Rajni sir broke both those records.. in Also lifetime of Linga is higher than Katti despite average reviews.
Had Lingaa some strong screenplay n direction like Robot/Shivaji ot would have eventually beaten Endhirans record for Sure
Vikram is the best tamil actor after kamal hassan sir but my favourite south indian actor is telugu superstar mahesh babu.
My only concern with South films is their dubbing. I genuinely want to watch their films but the dubbed version sometimes is unwatchable. The voice doesn’t match the action and the dialogues often lack the punch.
This is true with Hollywood as well. I remember watching Dark Knight on Utv actiion. Heath Ledger uttered corny lines like, “Itne serious kyu ho bete?” lol.

Thump’s up :-
1. Vikarm, Vikarm and Vikarm awesome acting playing body builder, no.1 model and a ugly give- super physic.
2. Amy Jackson was superhot.
3. Shankar’s direction.
4. Story was little bit new and interesting.
5. Vfx.
6. Song very pretty good.
Thump’s down :-
1. Amy Jackson acting was nt matchble to Vikarm they both look hot together but acting was nt good by Amy Jackson.
2. It nt get that level to expect form Vikarm-Shankar combo like aparichit.
3. Some illogical things.

Ai – movie has collected 80-90 crores gross worldwide in 3 days and by the end of its run if it collects 250 crores gross worldwide it will be great success. But looking at the trend, it should finish 180-200 crores worldwide which will be just a Hit considering that the movie was made of about 100 crores budget.

I agree. Movies with subtitle is the best thing. Will watch Drishyam. I read syopsis on IMDB. Looks really exciting.
I also want to watch a film called “Lucia.” Which is on the lines of Inception. Lucid dreaming is a fresh idea and I read in newspaper that this film was funded by the audience through donations. It’s IMDB rating is 8.6 I’m keen to watch these 2 films.
