Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania recorded excellent collections over the weekend. The business of the film exceeded expectations and the film picked up by 50% from Friday to Sunday – which is outstanding considering the fact that the film took a very good start on Friday itself.
The film lost about anything between 4-6 crore to Riteish Deshmukh’s marathi ‘Lai Bhaari’, the Ramadan period (most muslims don’t watch films) and the torrential rains that lashed the city of Mumbai and other regions of the Mumbai circuit over the weekend.
Given the word-of-mouth that Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania is carrying, the film could have collect 38 cr+ if not for the competition and rains.
Even with so many factors against it, Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania collected Rs 10.28 cr from Mumbai, 8 cr from Delhi/UP and 4 cr from East Punjab. Mysore was surprisingly below-the-mark, even though business picked up on Saturday and Sunday.
The first weekend business of Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania is about the same as Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, which went on to collect 100 cr+ at the box office. Three small films are scheduled to release this week and none will impact the business of the Varun Dhawan starrer, which has 11 open days to collect as much as it can before Kick releases in theatres.

Monday Box Office Update: Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania has held up well at most centres. North India continues to lead, Mumbai too has sustained well. The film should hold to around the 5.5 cr+ mark on Monday.
@megha lets do a social experiment that will proove whether ur opinions about Bollywood and audience acceptance of so called hit films are correct or not.if humpty has been actually rejected by the audience then it won’t do more than 6cr on 2nd weekend.if it gets mixed reviews it will do 6-9cr.if it gets good acceptance it will do 9-12cr and if it gets superb wom it will do 14cr+.since u blv it’s a rejected film it shouldnt go beyond 6cr.do u accept the challeng or u want to back off??

3 some past hits have been termed failures in certain articles and as success in other articles.
4publishes unequal no. Of articles on different stars.khans,akshay,hrithik get much more article space than younger stars despite of resounding success of youth.
As u cn see megha none of the flaws are major and indicine will surely correct them with time.

my grouse is that 95%of hindi movies are not well made and work on basis of publicity to make them work..inherently they are flawed badly ..flaws which indicine and the likes of taran adarsh do not highlight..
