Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania recorded excellent collections over the weekend. The business of the film exceeded expectations and the film picked up by 50% from Friday to Sunday – which is outstanding considering the fact that the film took a very good start on Friday itself.
The film lost about anything between 4-6 crore to Riteish Deshmukh’s marathi ‘Lai Bhaari’, the Ramadan period (most muslims don’t watch films) and the torrential rains that lashed the city of Mumbai and other regions of the Mumbai circuit over the weekend.
Given the word-of-mouth that Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania is carrying, the film could have collect 38 cr+ if not for the competition and rains.
Even with so many factors against it, Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania collected Rs 10.28 cr from Mumbai, 8 cr from Delhi/UP and 4 cr from East Punjab. Mysore was surprisingly below-the-mark, even though business picked up on Saturday and Sunday.
The first weekend business of Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania is about the same as Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, which went on to collect 100 cr+ at the box office. Three small films are scheduled to release this week and none will impact the business of the Varun Dhawan starrer, which has 11 open days to collect as much as it can before Kick releases in theatres.

Monday Box Office Update: Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania has held up well at most centres. North India continues to lead, Mumbai too has sustained well. The film should hold to around the 5.5 cr+ mark on Monday.

the problem is that produvers have started picking up hit films of yore and south and have started making movies around them!!. the youngsters like this kind of mixture with couple of party songs thrown in and aided by website like yours pull the wool over peoples eyes….

HSKD is a decent film, may not be a classice, but still a decent watch with family and friends. I believe boxoffice is the best place to judge a film. Ticket paying audiance is the ultimate god to judge a movie. Sometimes a bad movie make money, but a good movie always sustain. There are thousands of example. Making 100 cr. at BO is not a big task/achievement like few years back. What the heck, when a arjun kappor, siddrath malhotra and farhan khan’s movie doing 100+ cr. then whats the fault of varun dhawan ? If not with Hskd, varun will soon get a 100 cr. movie. Personally, i believe a well liked movie could easily cross 300 cr.
