The long rumoured return of Hrithik Roshan and Kareena Kapoor in Karan Malhotra’s Shuddhi is finally officially confirmed.
Filmmaker Karan Johar, who is producing ‘intense love story’, made the announcement to Times of India.
Karan said
Yes, Duggu (Hrithik) and Bebo (Kareena) were last seen together in 2001, in Subhash Ghai’s Yaadein and later in Karan’s super-duper hit Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham. In the time gone by, both actors have done different pieces of work separately. And though Karan (Malhotra) doesn’t look at their casting as a coup, he feels both actors will bring in the required energy that his director has envisioned.
When Karan came to me with Shuddhi, his desire was to cast Hrithik and Kareena. I spoke to both of them and they were happy to be on board. The film is an intense love story and because it has a reincarnation theme, he has written a script that is dramatic and outstanding. Also, such a theme requires actors who can bring the desired intensity. To me, it is really an important casting. But I don’t look at it as a coup. Kareena is beautiful, talented and a powerhouse performer. And Hrithik, well, what can I say? He can melt a nation just with his eyes.
There you go then, Hrithik Roshan and Kareena Kapoor return after 11 long years in a intensely romantic film revolving around a reincarnation theme. The two superstars who were initially set to make their debut in Rakesh Roshan’s Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai, worked in two films together – Sooraj Barjatya’s Main Prem Ki Deewani Hoon and Subhash Ghai’s Yaadein. While both films didn’t do too well at the box-office, Hrithik and Kareena’s on-screen chemistry was liked both by the critics and the audience. Will they be third time lucky?

@aks, as far as hrithik’s stardom and box office performance is concerned, he was ruling bollywood supremely along with shahrukh till 2008. after that aamir and akshay too went to the top and in 2010, salman went to top too. hrithik was always one of the most saleble actors of bollywood. and about rakesh roshan, well when directing a film, he is a director, not a father and hrithik has always taken the most difficult roles and has shined in all of them. yashraj and dharma have done much more for srk than rakesh roshan did for hrithik. krrish 3’s trailer promotions in theatres wont be charged, it will have the most massive release worldwide, distributors are fighting for profit shares, it shows enough glimpse of hrithik’s upcoming supremacy over bollywood. in 2000, he was called the next BIG thing, after krrish 3, he will be the BIG thing.
@shahrukh khan in bollywood and personal life only success matters a lot what ever you say as a reason of failure if script was not good why hritik-kareena agreed to do with that scripts, remeber salman movies not have good scripts but they are blockbusters in recent time, same goes for srk his movies not been appreciated but still collect more than 100 cr. that’s called star power an star is who which can attract audience into theaters. so if movies is not good and its fails than n othing to do with popularity and remeber hr-kkk ki 1 nahi 3 movies bombed as box office so ur xcuse doesn’t work here..
@afraz read my comment carefully i said dhoom 1 was surprise hit and liked by many that’s y it boost buzz into audience irrespective to who is going to play negative part, and if first part is good than definately it works for its sequal and if sequal is good it become better that was the case in D2, remeber Dhammal was great entertainer and Double dhamaal was great head ache but still it was semi hit due to the great part1……

fiza and Mission kashmir taken grand opening due to KHNP success full credit to hrithik i agreed, but you shou.ld think if an actor give his last movies a an hit it will definately create buzz for next movies because after underperformance of Mission kashmir and fiza hr next like Mujhse dosti kaoge,Naa tum jaano na hum,Main prem ki diwani hoon,Aap mujhe ache lagne lage was opened to not so good response but due to your dumbness towards hr you skip those and you forgot that after kites debacle his good movie like Guzaarish was bombed badly, so you can’t give HR over Khans because if one of movie of Khans fails than it will not effect much on their next but your hritik movies like Lakshya ang Guzaarish was get good opening whcih was expected, gets your facts right dude, and plaese not make any movie classic by your own Lakshya was never touted as classic.

@harsh hritik ruled bollywood till 2008 good joke, he started carrer in 2001, with one big movie he can’t be called box office king though as stardom he was star with first film but after knph to lakshya he has one big hit that was kmg so till 2005 he don’t have big success that’y people were calling him one film wonder, it was krish and dhoom who regained his boxoffice uprising than he come with srk in 2006, than in 2007 he had no movie there akshay came which was no.2 star after srk than in 2008 he had one release JA which was not even in top 3 but because it was an art film i can’t include box office but in 2008 he was way back to no.1/2 position as Aamir gave big threat to srk and akshay was behind from aamir/srk but ahead of hr, so tell me how he ruled box office along with srk till 2008 expect 2006.

I mentioned Awards for Knph were 108 in every award ceremony hrithik score 2 awards for Best debudant and best actor
