The long rumoured return of Hrithik Roshan and Kareena Kapoor in Karan Malhotra’s Shuddhi is finally officially confirmed.
Filmmaker Karan Johar, who is producing ‘intense love story’, made the announcement to Times of India.
Karan said
Yes, Duggu (Hrithik) and Bebo (Kareena) were last seen together in 2001, in Subhash Ghai’s Yaadein and later in Karan’s super-duper hit Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham. In the time gone by, both actors have done different pieces of work separately. And though Karan (Malhotra) doesn’t look at their casting as a coup, he feels both actors will bring in the required energy that his director has envisioned.
When Karan came to me with Shuddhi, his desire was to cast Hrithik and Kareena. I spoke to both of them and they were happy to be on board. The film is an intense love story and because it has a reincarnation theme, he has written a script that is dramatic and outstanding. Also, such a theme requires actors who can bring the desired intensity. To me, it is really an important casting. But I don’t look at it as a coup. Kareena is beautiful, talented and a powerhouse performer. And Hrithik, well, what can I say? He can melt a nation just with his eyes.
There you go then, Hrithik Roshan and Kareena Kapoor return after 11 long years in a intensely romantic film revolving around a reincarnation theme. The two superstars who were initially set to make their debut in Rakesh Roshan’s Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai, worked in two films together – Sooraj Barjatya’s Main Prem Ki Deewani Hoon and Subhash Ghai’s Yaadein. While both films didn’t do too well at the box-office, Hrithik and Kareena’s on-screen chemistry was liked both by the critics and the audience. Will they be third time lucky?

Great news! Loved them together in each of their films (regardless of the film’s outcome). They’re definitely one of my favourite jodi’s, along with SRK-Kajol, Ranbir-Sonam, Salman-Aishwarya & Ranveer-Anushka! Just hoping that the makers tap the full potential of their chemistry and the film works wonders at the box office.

I can’t stand Kareena. Why the hell did Hrithik agree to this? She is a flop actress & if everyone loved their pairing so much then why did 3/4 of their movies flop but all of his other movies do so well? Hrithik & Deepika would’ve been a nice fresh pairing for this movie. Karan needs to stop casting Kareena just bcoz they’re friends. Just bcoz he likes her doesn’t mean the audience does. She does not generate revenue for Dharma like Kajol, Preity & Priyanka did. IF this movie does well, it’s because of Hrithik – period!!! Remember flops like Kurbaan, We Are Family & Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu. Oh & Agent Vinod & Heroine? This doesn’t even include all of Kareena’s flops from the last decade. Why Karan? WHY???

i also wanted deepika and anuska too. .but bebo is also a nice choice because in terms of both acting and popularity,she is ahead of deepika. .and people will like to see their pairing again. .
Though their 3 movies were flops,but their pairing has always been admired.and one of the most popular couple .even my fav pairing of hrithik is hro-bebo and hro-aish. .

i wished Priyanka was in this one as she’s the lucky mascot in all HRO movies and by the way Kareena overacts so much with hritik so no one is interested in her and plus she looks aged(overweight) right now and she may look older than Hritik so i’m not excited!! i wish PC was in this one

There is a story where Hrithik Bebo Pairing were tried by some filmmakers and doesnt succeed they are zoya for kismat talkies,chikini chameli in agneepath etc but only once again karan had succeded to bring such type of pairing like Srk-Kajol,Ranbir-Deepika and now Hrithik-Bebo he makes an intresting pairing where audience will get mesmerise to catch their glimpse on silver screen

Karan Malhotra has finally pulled off a dream cast for his next directorial venture ‘Shuddhi’. Hrithik Roshan and Kareena Kapoor team up again after a long hiatus. The director says a cliche it may sound, but the two will be seen in a completely new avatar in the movie.
“Yes, finally we have confirmed Kareena for the role. I feel she is a stunning looking girl and she suites the character best. I am sure she will do justice to the film,” said Malhotra.
“I am not allowed to talk much about my film, but all I can assure you is Kareena and Hrithik will be seen in a never before role in ‘Shuddhi’. I know it’s the most cliche line ever, but I can assure you on that,” added the director who made ‘Agneepath’ remake with Hrithik.

Was it a conscious effort to reunite Hrithik-Kareena on screen almost after 10 years?
“No, it was not a conscious decision, it was just a coincidence. They both look lovely together, the script demanded them and I am lucky to have them on board,” he said.
Kareena-Hrithik last outing together was 2003 release ‘Main Prem Ki Diwani Hoon’. They were also seen together in ‘Mujhse Dosti Karoge!’ and ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham’ and ‘Yaadein’.
Talking about Kareena, Malhotra said: “Kareena is a thorough professional and she took it as any other job. I don’t think there are any differences.”
‘Shuddhi’, which will be produced by Karan Johar, will go on floors by early next year.

As far as Karan Malhotra’s Shuddhi goes, sources close to the actor insist that everything is as per plan. “Shuddhi was supposed to start only in January next year (2014). The release date that has been announced is October 2014, so there is no question of the film being thrown off schedule,” says the source.

its been a wonderful section for laughter on this page when many hro lovers are saying hritik-kareena makes a great pair or their favorites, they both r making a dull pair and their all films were box office failure barring K3G and who thinks that HRO-kareena made k3g working i thinks answer should be none- because it was Big b-Jaya & srk-Kajol who made that film working i remebering whenever i seen K3G any time i skip the part which having hritik-kareena on screen as they both were bad in that movie together except the song Keh do Naa………..
for me kareena is never been an actress who can pull the audience as her own he gives big hits and success with big production and specially with Khans, the only movies which can be touted as Kareena is Jab we Met.
for Hrithik no doubt he is one of finest actor we have in recent times and he is the only actor who has everything in him which should be in a real hero from good looks to great body, perfection in acting to the perfect dance moves everything but Hritik fans you should not be shout too big for hritik because HR is still far from the big movies apart from Rakesh Roshan direction venture, he has only three success on his own apart from his fathers movies D2,ZNMD,Agneepath where dhoom was a surprise hit and love by many that made automatic buzz for the sequal though hritik was good in D2 but its not alone his success, ZNMD definately HR who attracted audience into theatres but it was Farhan who made more Impact in the Movie and Agneepath was a remake of classic but Flop Agneepath but it having recall value due to Dharma production, HR and since the trailer were out it was Sanju who gets more attention and who attracted more audience into theatres.
so for me K3 definately sure shot blockbuster but for Bang-Bang and shudhi i m not exiceted much lets see what he give us in these movies, i don’t interest in Shudhi because the director of the movie started his career with a remake with his own ideology doesn’t make him a good director so for me HR has to prove many of us that he can made a movie blockbuster without his paaa and pre big buzz movies. forget to mention Jodha Akbar the only movies he made superhit with his infinite acting talent, love to see more movies from him which outshine hrithik as an star by Hritik as an actor….

this is good I always thought they had good chemistry now another good pair would be salman ans aishwarya for sooraj bharjatia film if both actors resolve their differences and work together like duggs and bebo.
Please release the film in Diwali next year .It will break all previous records for sure .
