Holiday First Day Collections, comparison with other films

Akshay Kumar’s Holiday took a slow start at Cinepark Valsad (multiplex) on Friday, but managed to pick up towards the end of the day. The film has taken the 3rd highest opening for 2014, behind Jai Ho and Gunday.

Film exhibitor Prashant Solanki says “Holiday opened with average occupancy in the morning as compared to what is expected out of an Akshay Kumar film. But with positive word-of-mouth the film picked up for the noon/evening shows and a huge jump in the night to end the day on a high”

“Holiday will do well over the weekend and will be steady on weekdays as well as IPL and vacations are over. Holiday could have taken a much better start if the first promo was cut better. It didn’t create any excitement, which meant that the film relied on word-of-mouth publicity. The audience is liking the film, so it still has a chance of crossing the 100 crore mark”

Quick comparison between the Top 3 grossers of 2014 (first day)
