Akshay Kumar’s Holiday took a slow start at Cinepark Valsad (multiplex) on Friday, but managed to pick up towards the end of the day. The film has taken the 3rd highest opening for 2014, behind Jai Ho and Gunday.
Film exhibitor Prashant Solanki says “Holiday opened with average occupancy in the morning as compared to what is expected out of an Akshay Kumar film. But with positive word-of-mouth the film picked up for the noon/evening shows and a huge jump in the night to end the day on a high”
“Holiday will do well over the weekend and will be steady on weekdays as well as IPL and vacations are over. Holiday could have taken a much better start if the first promo was cut better. It didn’t create any excitement, which meant that the film relied on word-of-mouth publicity. The audience is liking the film, so it still has a chance of crossing the 100 crore mark”

Update: With collections from other centres pouring in, Holiday looks set to post a total of around 10-11 crore on its opening day. Saturday will be crucial if the film has to recover its costs.
Weekend should be 35 to 40cr, weekdays are very crucial. Jai Ho weekend was 60cr but it couldnt sustain
hope it does well
HOLIDAY: 1st day: 11.5 cr
2nd day: 12 cr
3rd day: 14 cr
Weekend. 37-38 cr.
1st week: 62 cr.
10-11 crores is just not good enough. will struggle to cross 100 crores. at max it will do a business of 90 crores. though i predict it to be around 80 crores. below average or flop.
top 3- JAI HO: 17.60
GUNDAY: 15.86
2 STATES: 12.28
let’s see if HOLIDAY comes in the top 3 or on the 4th position!
First day: 10 crore
Lifetime: 60 crore
Gud collections considering low buzz.. Waiting for raja natwarlal..!!
Holiday weekend- 11.5+12.5 +15(39crore) and life time will be between 75-85 crore
Best of luck, hope it covers its investment, and gains some profit as well.from a SRKian
BOI will vary against others.
Holiday lifetime will be 95 cr
Imraan khan & Akshay lost some audience due to OUATIMD. People started disliking them and now Imraan is lost. Only Ajay & Emraan can suit that kind of role. Biggest mistake by Akshay to do OUATIMD.
Saturday will definitely be above 18 cr.. Its garnered a huge positive wom…
No Matter what I Guarantee you Holiday Will definitely collection more than JAI HO at the end of its Run
Gunday 15 crore !
What the hell this worst film I have ever seen
Jai ho 17 crore!
Hahaha
For me
Jai ho1/2 star
Gunday 1/4 star
And holiday 3•5 star
Indicine Tum pagal ho kya… Holiday Collected 22cr Worldwide on day 1 and excellent start in IND too.. Tum ye Report kahan se publish kr rhe ho…
Gunday has more footfalls than jai ho… Where is dinda25 who was talking about footfalls n stardom even ranveer Singh is a bigger star than salman
Lets see wot happens.. Fingers crossed.
Hope it wil do 40 crores in the weekend.
@indicine wats the budget of holiday.??
Holiday is currently rated 8.5 on IMDB,which means audience has liked it…
Weekend:40crs above
After Raja Natwarlal, Ungli, MR X & Hamari Adhuri Kahani
Emraan Hashmi will be sitting in the top league beating Ajay & Akshay
Hope best for Holiday …better than chennai express
i think this movie cross 100 cr.
because this movie story is different of this movie.
everyone like to see akshay kumar but not see a sonakshi singha ………………………..
HIT HAI BOSS…………………………………
First day collection 11 cr
life time collection 65 cr
Wow now it has a good chance to cross 70 cr that will be a great achievement for akki..so congress to all akki fans its celebration time for all of you…
It looks very tough for holiday to enter into 100 crores movie club….i think now i t would collect around 80 crores….so another just an average film collection wise from akki.
Now my pridiction for highest earning movies of 2014 are sequence wise.
1.peekay.
2.bang bang.
3.kick (eid release factor).
4.HNY.
5.singham2/bombay velvet/phantom.(may be some other surprise movies).
Same like talaash lifetime of holiday 90 cr. Semihit
I think it did extremely good for an Akshay Kumar film. It should easily cross the 60 crore barrier and may even go as high as 80 crores. Congrats King Kumar..
@ Indicine : Wheres the news about Kick trailer production team consist of 9 foreign technician working to give finishing touch with VFX effects ??? you post Srk news even when he leaves Mumbai & return but no news about Salman Kick !!!!!!!! It sounds biased !!!!!!!

Holiday – A Soldier Is Never Off Duty grossed 11.34 crore nett on day one as the evenings showed better collections but still the first day is not as high as it should be for its costs.
The opening day is the fourth best of 2014 after Jai Ho, Gunday and 2 States and is fifth best for an Akshay Kumar starrer after Rowdy Rathore, Housefull 2, Tees Maar Khan and Boss though Boss was a holiday release so in actual terms its better than Boss.
Holiday – A Soldier Is Never Off Duty will have to show good growth over the weekend to get to that 40 crore nett mark or above for the weekend which would be a good total. The film performed best in Rajasthan and also Gujarat which helped Mumbai circuit to a first day total around 4 crore nett.
