The Supreme court on Friday issued notice to Salman Khan on the Maharashtra government’s petition challenging a Bombay High Court verdict acquitting him in a 2002 accident case.
Issuing notice returnable in six weeks, an apex court bench comprising Justice Jagjit Singh Khehar and Justice C Nagappan told Salman Khan that “it would be much, much better if he gets acquittal from this court as it will save him from all the repercussions”.
Senior counsel Kapil Sibal, appearing for Salman Khan, took the court through the proceedings of the trial court, contending that his conviction was based on the testimony of one person, which cannot be relied upon.
He said besides that there was no other evidence before the trial court to convict Salman Khan in the case.
However, Attorney General Mukul Rohatgi that besides the sole witness being pointed to by Sibal, there were scores of other witnesses at the accident spot who saw Salman Khan in the driver’s seat of the vehicle that ran over a group of people sleeeping on a pavement, killing one of them.

@Yuvraj True…accidents do happen by mistake.But paying the price for your negligence and accepting your fault is the best way you can wash your sins.I don’t want to dwell much into philosophy but had it been some other truck driver who rammed his truck over a poor person he would have been convicted and put behind bars that day itself without getting bail.And by now he would have completed his jail term and would be guilt free.
But its useless to debate with people like you for whom Salman is God who can’t do anything wrong in his life

It has been established that his car was at the scene of the crime. The court should have granted some monetary compensation to the victims for the accident. This may have ended this matter once and for all. Instead he walks free and the victims are left hanging
@dxt namm even if he doesn’t go to jail, he will suffer a lot as his all films will flop baldly. PRDP was saved due to diwali, give him a below average script and a non holiday and hit film will flop badly. Dont name ready, as ready was a successful movie in south and remake factor helped it’s lot. Lallujaan has never achieved the true megastardom as aamir or even srk whom I hate a lot. Lallujaan is always a flop actor but thanks to eid holiday releases and masala films’ popularity he was lucky for a periodic time. Wait till Loltan as it will flop badly due to clash.
