In 2016, domestic film business of Hindi films has crossed the 10 crore mark on 20 different days. Akshay Kumar (Housefull 3 and Airlift), Shah Rukh Khan (FAN) and The Jungle Book dominate the list. Tiger Shroff has made his presence felt in the first half of the year too.
As the industry gears up for the biggest release of the year so far in the form of Salman Khan’s Sultan, the film has the potential to take all the Top 5 spots in its first extended weekend and could possibly take more spots in the Top 10 if it finds appreciation.
It must be noted that no film in 2016 (so far) has managed to make it to the all-time list of Highest Single Day. A film needs to collect 25 crore or more on a single-day to be eligible to make it to that list.

Yep Sultan and Dangal will easily do it. But I don’t think Shivaay and MD have a good chance to do it on a non holiday. U’re forgetting that both are clashing with 2 other big films.
Box office collection may b surpassed by upcoming movies but 1 thing I wanto mention after watching HF3….for 2016 akshay will b nominated for best actor for airlift and best actor in comedy for HF3…..super acting I have2 accept becoz iam not biased like other actor fans who dont appreciate good things

So we are going first half of this year with Jungle Book being the highest grosser,followed by 2 Akki films,i don’t know which will come 2nd between Airlift and HF3,but honestly Airlift deservers to be the highest grosser rather than Jungle Book coz it was such a good film.
Good performance by Akshay in first half of the year. After Sultan release there will be many changes in that list. And then expecting other biggies like MD, Dangal and Shivay to make a huge impact too.

@Nipun But both Pk and 3I weren’t slapstick or out and out comedy flicks.And AAA didnt recieve any acclaim during its release.Akshay’s own movies like Garam masala welcome awara paagal deewana mujhse shaadi karogi hera pheri deewane bhool bhulaiyaa huye paagal(don’t know why it didn’t do well) were way more entertaining than other movies which fetched awards.
And watch Akshay’s performance in garam masala and msk.His comic timing was just perfect.But there’s a separate section of best actor in a comic role rather than nominating them in the mainstream category which is ridiculous.Recently read his interview and he made a valid point that while performing such roles they have to imagine a non existent banana peel and fall in such a way which makes the audience laugh injuring themselves which isnt that easy.Just because your favourite critics don’t appreciate such movies doesn’t make it craps.There maybe some exceptions like himmatwala but Cinema isn’t always meant to enlighten you and change your lives for better.Sometimes 3 hours of nonstop laughter is what people demand.Anything which doesn’t suit your taste isn’t always crap.
