Jai Ho holds the record for the highest opening day collections for a film released in 2014. The Salman Khan starrer collected almost the same as the first day collections of all other releases put together, except Gunday which collected about 1 crore lesser than Jai Ho on fewer screens.
Yaariyan was the surprise package this year, as the film was riding almost entirely on the popularity of its music and youth appeal to open well at the box office.
Dharma Productions’ Hasee Toh Phasee was slower than Yaariyan, but eventually went on to be a much bigger grosser.
This week’s release Highway opened to a decent response as Imtiaz Ali films have a huge following in urban centres. Dedh Ishqiya took a slow start, but picked up over the weekend.
The opening day collections of all Hindi films in 2014 is Rs 54.27 crore.

ITS ENTERTAINMENT(8 AUG)-Akshay is coming back to his favorite genre after 2years.I have heard a lot about this film as it is highly entertaining.Genre- romantic comedy.The success of HOLIDAY will mostly decide the faith of this movie.And it will definitely have a hit music.But i wish they change the release date and it also stars all the most wanted villians
SINGHAM 2(15 AUG)-Ajay + Rohit + Kareena in a sequel to Singham.The film will take a huge start at Box offic.The main villian Raj is missing

The trade website that you guys often refer has declared it to be Semi-Hit. So, stop ranting without any quote.
Despite being an out and out non-holiday release with lowered ticket price, non-film related controversies against it and without boasting great star-casts, it managed to become a Semi-Hit. It’s enough.
KICK, on top of being a Salman Khan film, is being made on a lavish scale with its script re-written by Chetan Bhagat, International Stunt Directors, some great talents like Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Randeep Hooda and Mithun Chakraborthy, a beautiful face in it and will be sleek-looking like ETT, Don 2, Krissh and Dhoom 3. The original film itself is very comic, entertaining, cop vs thief (Dhoom format) but here with a intention of serving the welfare of under-privileged and orphaned children. Hence, it will click big time at the BO.
Let’s see how HNY fare in Diwali.

@Damnnn, stop singling out of the films like Jai Ho for Salman and CE for SRK. Do show other films as well. CE was once-in-a-blue-moon-kinda BB for SRK. Let’s see whether SRK can give another BB with HNY fare at the BO with Deepika, SRK, Abhishek, Sonu etc in it in Diwali festive period.

Opening day collection record has threat from Holiday or AJ but it possible if both will solo release. Lets see who will break D3 opening day and weekend records. Any holiday release can break that record but it was non holiday release having normal weekend. So lets see which movie break its record which having only one holiday in 3 days. @Amit p.k. Has less chance because 3 movies clashing on 25th so there is less chance of it to put record breaking weekend and opening day collection. While HNY and bang bang having great releases as both having 4 day weekend and consisting 3 holidays in it.
@romance told Srk playing charlie in HNY, thought srk haters given title to Hny is players2. Interestingly Abhishek character in players named Charlie and he was lead actor in that movie. So HNY has similarity with Players in that sense if your sources is correct. Thought its faith will be huge than Players as players lifetime will crossed by opening day. As dhoom 1 crosses by d3 in opening day and d2 in opening weekend. Lol.
@samar and when HNY release you will say oh, due to diwali day it can’t break opening day record. Thing before writing HNY 2nd day will sure around 40-45cr but opening day will be around 25-30cr max.

@Damnnn, Exactly!! Please do it from their respective debuts. Overall, SRK has relatively more hits and less flops than Salman has, whereas Salman has more BBs and ATBBs. Prior to 2000, SRK had more flops. Salman has more films, so he would have more flops naturally as well.
At the same time, it’s also true that, post 2000, the careers of SRK and Aamir have been more consistent in terms of hits. And SRK had a smooth personal life. So, he was able to concentrate on his work. Of course, it is widely accepted that SRK has been more hardworking and choosy.
On the other hand, Salman had a troublesome personal life post 2000 until 2010 or so. And media did all the damages to his films as well.
While SRK has been lucky to get to work popular banners, directors etc, Salman has worked with newcomer casts and banners, directors.
So, everyone has pros and cons. So, why not we end the arguments recognizing everyone and saying all the A-List Actors are good in their respective ways. As someone has put before, this is not a marathon race that one needs to become the First.
If Indians say India is the best, Chinese won’t accept and vice versa. So, the acceptable fact is everyone is good in his/her own way.

Reason given by us for Jai Ho failure- low ticket price, ugly heroine, panauti director, exam season etc etc. Arnt we the one who claimed “Bhai’s name is enough” & “salman films r festival”. Bhai doesnt rock!!
I like the genuinity of indicine while giving discount on collection figs of all actors films except one fellow.Even BOI says Jai Ho first day figs as 17.53cr but our indicine is too strict as it reduced 30lakhs even from the figs reported by BOI.Great going indicine !

If someone always gets first rank, there is no excitement. Sometimes, he/she needs to get third of fourth so that he/she works harder and gets some kinda excitement. And Salman is a superstar on both Big Screen and Small Screen (TV).
