Here’s the list of highest non-holiday opening day collections. Aamir Khan’s Dhoom 3 is way ahead of all films, with more than double the business of Salman Khan’s Jai Ho which released on almost the same number of screens.
Hrithik Roshan’s Krrish 3 is second, followed by Salman’s last release Dabangg 2 and Ranbir Kapoor’s Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. Jai Ho comes in at No 5 ahead of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Ram Leela.
Shahrukh Khan’s last couple of films (Jab Tak Hai Jaan, Chennai Express) released on a national holiday. His last non-holiday release Don 2 is at No 7.
Last year’s Republic Day release Race 2 collected around 2.5 crores lesser than Jai Ho.

a personal take on the social message angle of the movie – why one has to help only three people…one should help as many people as he can through his efforts..however small they be…..
but why this obsession with the number ‘three’….i will tell you why… because jai ho is a remake of stalin in which chiranjeevi preaches to help ‘three’ people instead of saying thanks….which in turn is copied from the hollywood movie “pay it forward” in which the lead actor asks ‘three’ people whom he had helped to further help ‘three’ people…. why Bollywood cant think something original at least in the social message perspective…..

Lol…salman’s first movie after long time slightly underperformed than his Own movies people started to blabbering here especially Akki fan Aeeyy. Boss released on bakra Eid holiday 12 cr less than grand masti, tees mar khan released on Xmas lifetime was 60 cr less than MNIK. Action replay released in dewali lifetime 20 cr , blue released on Deewali 40 cr flop. How many more example u need Akki fans.
‘Jai ho’ collected less than expected but its only the 1st day and content and all reviews r good so their will be no big drop of collections in coming days and still the movie can become blockbuster.

Dhoom day was so big that it completely overshadoes the holiday/non holiday factor. Poor haters of Aamir were barking that its Dhoom brand but they don’t understand the difference between a holiday and non holiday release. Look at Don2 collection released on same period with 2700 screens compared to 4500 screens of d3.with 60% more screens the collection of d3 is 133% more than 3.8 billion fans Star srk in 2 years difference on opening day. Final of don2 was 106 while d3 is 270cr+(hindi). I think i should not discuss overseas collection here they can’t handle and providing us if,that,were blah blah.so end of the day Jai ho collected 3cr less as i expecting from it. Hope weekend will be more than 60cr+ (i expected 65cr but it is out of reach now).Salman improve your vision,tastes and talent surrounding you. Because you are one star who is not a brilliant actor like ak,srk,hr,ajay but still a bigger crowdpullar than them but other talentless can’t made mark in audience heart like you did. That’s a fact.
