Shahrukh Khan’s Happy New Year has done well the world over in its opening weekend at the box office. The film has collected Rs 108.86 crore net in India (Rs 145 crore gross) and added more than 46 crore in the overseas markets to take its worldwide total collections to Rs 190 crore. The Farah Khan film is the biggest weekend grosser in India and overseas by a distance.
As per our estimates, the overseas business of Happy New Year is around $7.25 million, the second highest of all time behind Dhoom 3 which collected $10.3 million (Rs 63 crore) overseas during the Christmas period. HNY is also Shahrukh Khan’s biggest opening overseas, beating his previous best effort of $7.2 million (Rs 44 crore).
Happy New Year has also become only the 2nd film to gross more than $30 million in its first weekend, after Dhoom 3.

When Aamir, who has broken opening records with movies like Mangal Pandey, RDB, Fanaa, Ghajini and 3 Idiots, does it once again with Dhoom 3, then it has got more to do with his brand value and less with Dhoom’s brand value…ghusi baat bheje mein!!

1.though its true that critic reviews are not important for a big starrer,but for hny the critic reviews are so excessively publicized on tv and social media that its like they are forcing people to not watch the movie.
2.this was not the case with either d3 or kick(i mean vigil idiot for hny was trending today in twitter).at least hny final word was,it was highly entertaining though had loop holes.dhoom 3 was not even near in terms of entertainment(i mean no sort of details of how the bank is robbed,only idiotic chase sequences,dhoom series earlier were famous for their heist patterns)

Verdicts only importance for a film. Today badly crash morning occupying only 20 per, noon 30 percentage, evening 30 percentage and night 35 percentage thats means 12cr to 14cr collection today. Hny producer can make collection 20cr over with manipulator calculator. But main fact is real collection not manipulation collection.
Our king should never release his upcoming films in christmas and aamir should release his films in christmas only then we will always have this excuse that aamir movie has done well in overseas coz of christmas and our kings film underperformed coz it did not released in christmas in overseas

my Review of HNY:
I walked into the theater expecting to see a decent film but I was little disappointed because it was typical Farah Khan Film.
I am not typically a huge fan of Farah Khan’s films however there were some negatives.
Of course Deepika’s accent was…indiscernible. I do not want to comment on whether her accent was good or not, but at times, it was tough to understand what exactly she was trying to say.she tried to hard to copy Meena ( her character in Chennai Express) but unfortunately she failed but at least her dancing was great.
Almost of the cast lives up to the hype except Sonu Sood. He was barely there and wasted . I’m sure this will be one of his worst roles till to date.
Shahrukhan is dashing but I’ll be honest with this one. he is not that kind of person that you will say wow when they take off their shirt ( I hope you will understand what I mean?).
Abhishek is colorful, Deepika plays a small, somewhat dull role, but the movie in general is slow, a little muddy, hard to understand, and justifies the crime completely. Sure, the robbery is against a sleazy guy, but still, the movie is about a bunch of losers who don’t have much going for them.
I’m not saying that the script was fairly well written It had a mediocre dialog and a weak plot. I personally thought that it was pretty predictable. The plot wasn’t as “smart” as the Ocean 11 and 12 but there were enough random “laugh scenes” to keep my attention until the climax of the movie when they actually attempt the heist. The first hour of the movie was without a doubt the best part of the movie because it was very entertaining.
The real problem with the film, though, is that it is actually after the first hour It did get slow in the middle but The conclusion saved the film because it was very good . There are many moments of suspense when you’ll wonder, “How will they get out of that one?” The film has a few surprises that fall under the “things aren’t always what they seem” category.
The fact that I’m even questioning the facts of the robbery shows that the film had its mind in the wrong place.I should be thinking about the great scenes with the thrill of watching Deepika,SRK and Abhishek in a love triangle. Instead, the entire film is about the planning of this heist (which, by the way, is completely and totally unbelievable). I won’t go into specifics here.
HNY Is not the greatest movie I have seen. While its not that bad,although it is sometimes lame and boring and Abhishek really does a good job. Has a few good jokes though.
There are several cameos by movie stars, including prabhu deva and Anurag.
HNY was good but its the kind of movie that you might watch one time. I wouldn’t be surprised if it crush on weekdays. I certainly won’t be watching it again, so that would be fine by me.

Great numbers as it was expected from srk. I hope it will cross 20 million in overseas. HNY is a full on full entertainment movie. I will watch it tomorrow for the fourth time.
