Happy New Year Second Week Collections

Happy New Year has done very well in its second weekend at the box office, with net box office collections of Rs 22.24 crore. The film dropped on Friday, picked up quite significantly on Saturday and recorded outstanding collections on Sunday (which also happened to be Shahrukh Khan’s birthday).

The day-wise official collections for the second weekend are as follows – Friday 5.26 cr, Saturday 7.47 cr and Sunday 9.51 cr. Second weekend total – 22.24 cr.

Happy New Year has now collected nearly Rs 180 crore in 10 days and should cross the 200 crore mark in its third weekend. During the coming weekdays, there are holidays in parts of the country which should boost business, as HNY remains the only choice for movie-goers this week too.

In 10 days, Chennai Express had collected Rs 181.92 crore, while Kick was less 2 crore short of 200 crore at 198.22 crore. Rohit Shetty’s Chennai Express was one of the best trending films in recent times, as it collected Rs 45.38 crore after its second weekend. Happy New Year would have to keep pace with it if it has to have any chance of becoming the highest grosser of 2014.

In the overseas markets, Happy New Year will be battling it out with Bang Bang to be the highest overseas grosser of 2014. The Hrithik Roshan starrer collected Rs 81 crore overseas, while Happy New Year should cross the lifetime business of Salman’s Kick by the end of Week 2.
