Happy New Year has done very well in its second weekend at the box office, with net box office collections of Rs 22.24 crore. The film dropped on Friday, picked up quite significantly on Saturday and recorded outstanding collections on Sunday (which also happened to be Shahrukh Khan’s birthday).
The day-wise official collections for the second weekend are as follows – Friday 5.26 cr, Saturday 7.47 cr and Sunday 9.51 cr. Second weekend total – 22.24 cr.
Happy New Year has now collected nearly Rs 180 crore in 10 days and should cross the 200 crore mark in its third weekend. During the coming weekdays, there are holidays in parts of the country which should boost business, as HNY remains the only choice for movie-goers this week too.
In 10 days, Chennai Express had collected Rs 181.92 crore, while Kick was less 2 crore short of 200 crore at 198.22 crore. Rohit Shetty’s Chennai Express was one of the best trending films in recent times, as it collected Rs 45.38 crore after its second weekend. Happy New Year would have to keep pace with it if it has to have any chance of becoming the highest grosser of 2014.
In the overseas markets, Happy New Year will be battling it out with Bang Bang to be the highest overseas grosser of 2014. The Hrithik Roshan starrer collected Rs 81 crore overseas, while Happy New Year should cross the lifetime business of Salman’s Kick by the end of Week 2.

I m happy that der is sth to cheer for srk fans. 1st person to score back to back 200 cr.aftr 1st day it was sureshot 300 cr bt now back to back 200 is sth which they think impossible for others.for their knowledge hrithik gave back to back 300 cr worldwide bt hrithik fans r not ranting abt it.

Fine. Critics smashed HNY with Average ratings just
because they like hollywood logical movies more. Many
guys spread negativity about HNY, Many were even adding
it in da category of Himmatwala and Humshakals just
because those fans hate Shahrukh Khan,
Answers to all of em is –
Firstly, to all Anti-Srkians, for me HNY never made me feel
that it was a SRK Film, it was a film of all actors, they
played their roles better and all of em were perfect! Da
craze for all of em was amazing. Personally, for me it was
an Abhishek Bacchan trademark film in which he proved
everyone wrong with his awesome acting skills. I never
felt that SRK was a special guy in da film till its end where
he makes King Size Entry!
Nextly, there are those critics in this world who are
watching film with keeping their brains in da seat next to
them and are thinking about da movie for all 3hrs,
according to them, it was not a good movie. But they are
forgetting only one thing, that we indians are watching da
film, not for finding logic in em, but for entertainment.
Yeah, I’m giving an excuse but (sorry can’t express my
feeling in english) “Mujhe dil se movie dekhne mai zyada
maza aata hai,” Thats exactly what i did. For me, it was an
out and out patriotic entertainer, even a sort of thriller.
You can call me a typical idiot movie lover, yeah, I’m that
sort of guy. Happy? But even in your heart, you know that
you loved da movie, you felt da patriotic feeling in your
heart, you laughed da hell out of you, you were amazed
throughout da movie. But still because of following those
critics and anti-srk factor, you are denying to say that you
loved it. Today, i actually realised that a movie can’t be
judged by some pitty critics or negative fans, you have to
enjoy da movie no matter if its SRK’s film or Salman’s film
or Amir’s film or Hritik’s film or any other’s film. I’m not a
fan of SRK now, I’m a fan of Bollywood.

watched Happy New Year,Here is my review.
Story-nothing new or anything which we haven’t seen before except srk 8 pack abs.
ScreenPlay-Its was very poor in first half,there wasn’t a single entertaining moment for me except intro of Sonu and Abhi,srk has full of superstar entry with his old films dialogue,don’t know about other but I simply dislike his physique it was well built but not suits him.Here we should not talk about logics as masala entertainer never about logics.
Second half was good after first 20 mins,I like two things especially
1.fight between srk and Korean specially srk fly back scene when he fall down due to kick of Korean,similarly when he saved Korean child on stage.
2.Robbery,Farah and team managed to give some logical robbery sequence, planning and execution was superb.
Overall first half was nothing but second half is good.
Performances-All the actors given earnest performance as the way their director wants from them.Srk has given one of his poorest performance of recent time,he was strictly average for me,in first half he looks older and just given same performance which we have seen from him multipletimes,his dialogue delivery remind me his accent in Don series,in second half he looks good and good in intense scene as usual so overall average.Deepika didn’t have much to do in this film,her role was nothing compare to CE but she is good to average whatever she did.Abhishek shines in this film,whenever he was on screen audience wants that he will say something or do idiocy,he was show stealer in this film,Boman Irani was good but the king of actor he is,I wish he should do better roles.he is funnier but in some scenes while in some he irritates.Sonu sood was good,in some scenes he managed to entertain with his listening disability but he has superb physique.Vivan given decent performance.
Direction-Farah is such a waste of director,except MHN she never given anything good as a director,though oso was good but its due to srk,deepika and other cast superb performance and music was brilliant.Tmk was bad but hny was poor,except robbery scene she didn’t given anything as a director.
Editing was poor,film can be cut 30 mins,cinematography was best thing about the film, grand scale,superb location,lots of money spend or I can say wasted.Music is big let down, except satakli song which came atcright situation when we Indians feel good as our loosers team get chance as finalist. Manwa page was good but as we have seen song on TV many times so it bores on screen.Music was a big letdown as a srk film music is always good but its lacks that not a single song is chartbuster.
Overall I would give 2/5.
Its a film which you can watch in theatre as in theatre a half baked jokes able to make you smile but only if you are fan of either of any actor.This film is like Farah way to happy srk to strong their bond as it her tribute to srk the way she used his old dialogues and signature steps.
Talking about collection,producer figure will touch and go 200cr mark to make srk first actor to give back to back 200cr but as o’er trade film will remain being ett,yjhd may be.
Final word-its been very disappointing for me the way srk doing films after rnbdj,except CE I didn’t like any of his film from last 6 years,though I don’t lie him but I loved his film pre 2008 like vz,paheli,cdi,rbndj,k3g,mohabbatein,ddlj,bbaazigar etc.Among his upcoming I have hopes from fan and Rohit sheety next but not from Don 3 oops sorry Raees.
srk fans are the most hypocrite fans in the world. It is a fact during the first week of hny they were saying it was great film they were even trending #hnybestfilmever and know they are saying the film’s content was bad when the film is failing to kick.
we have been hearing this srk fan rants froom 2007. What if he does a positive WOM film with a great storyline well in that case you will get a MNIK :P.. Plus who is stopping him? do we Aamir fans go and tell him to do lame films?
I wish indicine would not inflate the box office takings of HNY I spoke with a friend who does updates for India box office and figures reported by Indicine is outrageous nowhere near the real figures so those of you who follow indicine reports please take it all in with a pinch of salt.
