The advance booking of Happy New Year has opened all over the country. Majority of theatres have only started selling tickets of the film today, so plenty of tickets are currently on sale.
Even with a runtime of 3 hours, the Shahrukh Khan starrer has been allotted plenty of shows at multiplexes. The show count is about the same as Kick at most multiplexes, but higher than Singham Returns and Bang Bang. At a few multiplexes in Kolkata, where Shahrukh Khan is well and truly the king of the box office, Happy New Year will be running on all screens throughout the day. Just two shows are taken by two different Hollywood films at a multiplex.
The story in similar in other parts of the country too, Happy New Year will have absolutely no competition except in South India where two Tamil films have released today. But even in Tamilnadu, Happy New Year has been allotted a good numbers of shows, although advance booking at quite a few centres hasn’t begun here.
The opening is expected to be record-breaking in Andhra/Nizam (outstanding advance booking already), Delhi / NCR Region is off to a good start and even in Mumbai circuit tickets are selling quickly even though counters opened only today.
The increase in ticket prices varies from 5% to 15% higher as compared to Bang Bang, but prices are generally about the same as Kick.

holiday of the year Diwali. Film has huge
pre release buzz and it is expected to
shatter few records in first three day
itself. Though like most of the SRK
starrers, haters are busy spreading
rumors about the film but that doe snot
matter as box office hurricane is coming.
Film opened to tremendous response in
Gujarat this morning from small town of
Valsad to Ahmedabad. Going by the
trend, film will have close to 60%
booking by the end of the day. In
Rajasthan, 65% tickets sold yesterday
itself. North is picking up and east will
be clses to 95% without any doubt.
Mumbai and Pune have also opened to
bumper response and it should be close
to 90% by Friday morning. As of now it
seems that, film should easily clock 33-35
cr nett on opening day and only question
remains whether film will cross 38-40 cr
nett on day one.

Opening day should be 40+ cr. with a weekend of 100+ cr. Anyhow, i usually follow chandan theater in mumbai. It is one of the biggest and oldest single screen theater in town. They have 4 shows of HNY, compare to 5 shows of chennai express, kick, singham2 and dhoom 3. Ticket price almost same as singham 2. If chandan theater is housefull on 24 oct, then it is sure 40+ cr. firstday.
85 % tickets are sold out in most of the multiplexes in Pune :)
eventhough it brakes first day record, i will not watch it, because i love my money, time and brain. I don’t want to waste my money and time and also i don’t want to give torture to my brain, so i won’t watch this film at all.
Almost all srk fans r predicting 40cr opening day, the number 40 also indicates liftetime collection of another srk movie….
@kabir, remember itz ur king who started his ra one’s promotion 1.5year earlier of its release. Still result was only 116cr. Same thing is going to happen this deewali.
