Happy New Year has shown tremendous growth in business on its 2nd Saturday at the box office. Business in Mysore circuit picked up as it was a holiday in the state of Karnataka for ‘Karnataka Rajyotsava’. Mumbai circuit is going well too.
Today, on the day Shahrukh Khan celebrates his birthday, business of Happy New Year is expected to grow further. If the film crosses the 10 crore mark, the 2nd weekend business will be around 23 crore which would take the 10-day total to 180 crore.
Yash Raj Films or Red Chillies Entertainment are yet to release the official figures for Friday and Saturday. Below are our estimates.

- Saturday - 31.6 cr (29.7% drop)
- Sunday - 32.29 cr (2% growth)
- Monday - 15.01 cr (53.5% drop)
- Tuesday - 13.17 cr (12.2% drop)

- Thursday – 9.51 cr (13.7% drop)
- 2nd Friday – 5.25 crore (44% drop)
- 2nd Saturday - 8 crore (52% growth)
- Grand Total (9 days) - 170.82 crore

Srk fans talking about hny duration for low collection than what about d3 172 min long if it was 150 min long than it will definitely be a 300cr film as per their logic believes too.Over hny was just a below avg affair but srk-dp stardom and festive release made it hit.
Reading the comment section it looks like only srk fans predicted 300cr for their fav actors film…bt the reality is almost all the salman fans predicted 250cr & 300cr for jai ho & kick respectively..bt both of them couldnt live up to expections just like hny..

frankly speaking disappointed by the collections but not by the film.Movie was good .I would agree with @sky first 20 min of 2nd half are boring but Satakali song took the film back on the track.Long running time was a problem,being a srk fan I never get bore of SRK,but neutral audience want a film of 2.15-2.30 hr.Manwa Lage was very good song but it was not well placed ,I think there wasnt a need of song at that spot …
Overall I liked the film so does my friends but yes the role was very ordinary to Srk which he easily managed .I want him to do roles like KANK,K3G,CDI full of intense roles.
Anyways now waiting for FAN ,in which I think Srk would get some margin to perform.
Congrats to Salman Fans for this victory but I always stated that a festival in the weekdays is more helpful than festival as opening.Opening will always be big for 4 A starer so will be the opening weekend but film will get the boost if eid or diwali fall on monday/tuesday.Kick and Krish 3 are its perfect examples.

Happy New Year showed huge growth on its second Saturday and Sunday to gross around 20 crore nett in its second weekend and take its ten day total to close to 154 crore nett.
The approx collections for the second weekend are are as follows.
Friday – 4,25,00,000
Saturday – 6,75,00,000
Sunday – 9,25,00,000
TOTAL – 20,25,00,000
The growth on the second Saturday and Sunday was huge even compared to many other big grossers. It means the film has been well appreciated by the family audiences and this likely trend will be repeated in third weekend. There are holidays in certain states on Tuesday and Thursday which should give collections an extra boost in various circuits and the week could go towards 35 crore nett.
