Gunday has recorded the second highest opening for a film this year, only behind a big film like Salman Khan’s Jai Ho which released on 3900 screens.
The Yash Raj Films’ production has collected Rs 16.12 cr (official figure) across India, with the film putting up fantastic numbers in North and Central India. In East Punjab, Gunday (Rs 1.53 cr) has beaten Jai Ho (Rs 1.35 cr), as the circuit witnessed opening of a few new properties (multiplexes).
Gunday is also the highest opening for a Ranveer Singh film, ahead of his last release Goliyon Ki Rasleela – Ram Leela which collected Rs 15.73 cr on Day 1.
It’ll be interesting to see if Gunday can sustain on Saturday, as the film benefitted from Valentine’s Day on Friday and was running at 60%+ occupancy almost throughout the day. We expect Gunday to collect around 13-14 crore today and 17-18 cr on Sunday to take its first weekend total to 47 crore net, which is phenomenal considering the star-cast of the film.

collections are good but movie is bakwaas. had great expectations only to be dissapointed. why yrf films always fools people with good trailers and below average films. will surely go downhill after the weekend as people are not liking the film.

@indicine- were you out of your mind when you gave it 3 stars. it doesnt even deserve a single star. i mean is this multiplex cinema? yashraj are very clever presenting gunday as a commercial multiplex cinema. at the end of the days its neither multiplex cinema nor single screen masala cinema. it is bad cinema as simple as that.cant believe i fell for the trap. at least masala films are entertaining. its neither entertaining nor does it have any script or plot. its like watching a 80’s crap film with high production values. that’s what gunday really is.
@babaji there are some good directors who bring new things in terms of story telling.

It was benefited by the holiday, it has dropped today. I expect it to collect somewhere between 11-13 crore today and 16-17 crore tomorrow.
@Rohit, yesterday wasn’t a national holiday. Valentine’s Day makes only about a 10% difference in collections.. that too only at urban multiplexes.
