Gulaab Gang, Total Siyapaa, Queen: Box Office Opening

Three films released this weekend and all three have started very poorly at the box office.

Gulaab Gang had the widest release of the three films and it was expected to take the biggest start too. The Madhuri Dixit – Juhi Chawla starrer is better than Queen, but the average occupancy for the morning shows is extremely low at around 5 – 10%. The opening is also lower than Madhuri’s last release Dedh Ishiya, which released alongside Yaariyan.

Total Siyapaa was below-the-mark too, but has fared slightly better in a few centres. Overall, the opening is as poor as the other two films – at around 10% all india.

Queen has taken the worst start of the three films that have released this weekend. The response from the press screening was fantastic, critics praised the film too, but the opening has shocked the trade. There are reports that several morning shows were cancelled as not a single ticket was sold.

Hollywood film ‘300: Rise of an empire’, which also hit screens today, has taken a better start than all three Hindi films. In fact, a few exhibitors have reported that the morning show collections of ‘300: Rise Of An Empire’ is better than the combined business of all three Hindi films.
