Great Grand Masti is one of the biggest disasters of the year, as the film has collected less than Rs 3 crore on its opening day at the box office. Piracy has completely ruined a film that would’ve probably opened at 12-13 crore.
The decision to release the film a week after Sultan has also back-fired big time, as the Salman Khan starrer was not only the first choice at multiplexes, but it also ensured that Great Grand Masti didn’t get a wide enough release at smaller centres.
Looking at the occupancy for the morning shows on Saturday, Great Grand Masti could finish with lifetime business of less than 12 crore – which was what the previous film, Grand Masti, collected on its opening day! The losses will be huge. The film will struggle to even recover its marketing and release cost.
Meanwhile, Sultan continued its strong run on its 10th day at the box office. The film has collected Rs 7.43 crore on its second Friday to take its 10-day total to Rs 236.6 crore. A big jump in business is expected today, which will help the film get closer to the 250 crore mark. Only 3 films have crossed the 250 crore – Dhoom 3, PK, Bajrangi Bhaijaan – Sultan will become the 4th tomorrow.
The film is also the 2nd highest Eid grosser after Bajrangi Bhaijaan and has beaten the 2014 film Kick in less than 10 days.

Watched this yesterday night. Movie is not good. But better then the other two sex comedies this year. 1st half no real laugh moments. Second half was very good in patches. One scene which left me rolling was the one where Ritesh’s wife explains Shreyas the two entries in the Haveli.
Salman khan liked the Mohenjodaro music album, when he listened last night in T.V.

Piracy is becoming a huge headache for movies currently . Manjhi, UP and GGM all these movies were badly ruined by leak . Manjhi was an average grosser could have been Above Average or Semi Hit . UP an Above Average grosser could have been Semi Hit or Hit . GGM could have done much better than what it is doing right now . Adult Comedies are no longer attractive for the audiences as we have seen the result with KKHH 3, Mastizaade and Kucch Kucch Locha Hai . But most people have seen GGM via downloading so there is no point they will spend money in Cinemas . Before Movies used to come online after 3 days of the release but now movies are leaked 3 days or even 1 to 2 weeks prior the release . This is a terrible situation for the makers and something has to be done to solve this problem . I feel every movie whether big or small should get a proper release and should be given an opportunity to be successful . Piracy is grabbing that opportunity from filmmakers, directors and actors . If a big event movie starring Hrithik, Ajay, Aamir, Akshay, SRK and Salman gets leaked online it will severely dent the collections as majority of collections comes from youngsters who have more access to internet as compared to kids and older citizens . So 2016 another Sequel bites the dust joining the list of Ghayal Once again, Jai Gangaajal, Tere Bin Laden : Dead Or Alive, KKHH 3, Tera Suroor and Great Grand Masti . The only successful Sequel this year has been H3 . The Sequels to follow this year – Force 2, Kahaani 2, Rock On 2, Tum Bin 2 and Raaz Reboot . !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Piracy has damage great grand masti in big way.
@indicine you have said earlier that udta punjab is benefited from controversy and piracy didn’t affect it. The picture is clear that how much great grand masti is affected due to piracy. So, udta punjab is definetly affected in big way due to piracy. Udta punjab at least will have collect 85 cr if it has not affected due to piracy. It will not be wrong to say if it not leaked it has also chance to collect more than 100 cr.
Same goes in case of sultan. If sultan hasn’t leaked it has chance to collect more than bajrangi bhaijan.
Even after solo release SRK is the King of highest opening in domestic and in overseas. I am sad King Khan overseas collection is higher than sultan even Dilwale came with clashes. Really Salman is small no matter how hard he tries.
