Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar has said that he feels films should be completed in 30-60 days and not 300-400 days – taking a dig at actors who take nearly a year to shoot their films.
The actor also said, he completed ‘Housefull 3’ in just 38 days.
“It is not rocket science, it is very easy, you just keep on working. I don’t think one film should take more than 60 days. I finished ‘Housefull 3’ in 38 days. Everyone comes on time, we work hard. I work for eight hours and it was very fast.”
“I had read that they made the film, ‘Mission Impossible’ in 52 days. I don’t know how we talk about 300 days and 400 days. Films are completed in 30-60 days, maximum you take 70 days, how much shooting will you do?” Akshay said, expressing surprise over how some filmmakers and actors take 1-2 years to complete a film.
The trick to Akshay doing 3-4 films a year is that he doesn’t sit on the editing table, nor does he involve himself in the pre-production or post-production work. He approves the script, gives his dates, works for no more than 8 hours a day, doesn’t work on Saturday or Sunday (it’s in his contract) and doesn’t assign more than 10-15 days to promote a film. This allows him to do 3-4 films a year and also take 2-3 vacations with his family in between films.
“My shooting days were 38 days, but it took 40 days to make the trailer because they (makers) couldn’t understand how to show in two and half minutes everything about it’s storyline. It was very difficult for them, I remember so many times they showed us, but nothing was working out.”

@ANK Points noted. Yes TZP, RDB, Lagaan, DCH, Fanaa are all quality films. The films I mentioned in my earlier comment was about the releases during X’Mas period which has obviously helped him to put up monster hits. And yeah BO wise Hrithik is still way behind Aamir but I still believe Hrithik’s best years are yet to come.
And lol yeah Akshay, with due respect is nothing in front of Hrithik when it comes to superstardom. For me he is just an upgraded version of Shahid Kapoor…so the difference is Shahid Kapoor delivers 45 cr films and Akshay since he is V2.0 puts up 70 cr hahaha
What he says, will benefit for producers, co-stars and the industry also. it also shows an actor’s RANGE to showcase different genres. mind that…Akshay is the only actor who won awards for all genres till date. if an actor takes 1-2 years , that shows his low potential. no doubt. anybody can perfect a role if it goes for 12-16 takes in a scene. thats commonsense.

What’s the need of doing 3-4 films a year?? I don’t know what akki wants by doing 3-4 ‘dead’ films a year and by working so hard?? This is stupidity.No one remembers Akshay’s movies.
Mr. Akshay, whats exactly your point? Aamir’s one movue itseld earns more than 4 of your films combined. So who are you to talk such big?
Akki should know cc2c took quite a while to make and ended up being crap, anyways good news this year he has only 3 movies releasing. Hope this strategy continues next year. Also akki has a habbit of releasing the wrong films when gets holiday benefit, if houseful 1 releasing on christmas in exchange for tmk, it would of grossed more than dabang, if gabbar released in brothers date gabbar would of fared much better than brothers. And those calling akki shahid kapur who hadn’t given 2nd highest grosser of the years, akshay done it many times with mohra, welcome, rowdy rathore and Singh is king, all wud of been atbb if it released on Eid or Christmas.
