For a film that looked immensely promising from its teaser, the utter mess that Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Raees’ finds itself in, is unfortunate to say the least. The official announcement of ‘Raees’ releasing on 26th January 2017, has resulted in an all out attack against Ritesh Sidhwani and the makers of the Rahul Dholakia film.
Baadshaho director Milan Luthria has released a statement confirming that his film will come on the same date. He said “We are on schedule and we were the first ones to announce the release date. We will not be shifting our release date”
Meanwhile, Rakesh Roshan is upset with the announcement too. While there were reports that Shah Rukh called up both Rakesh and Hrithik to discuss the date, the senior Roshan denied the news. But added that his film won’t move from 26th January.
“No one approached me, my release date was announced in February this year for 26th January 2017 and I am sticking to it. Who comes or who doesn’t is not my problem” Rakesh was quoted as saying by Deccan Chronicle.
In our article titled ‘Best Release Date for Raees’, which was published more than 2 weeks ago, we had said “the new date shouldn’t end up in yet another clash”.
To avert one clash, the think-tanks at Excel Entertainment and Red Chillies Entertainment have opted for a date that was already occupied by films featuring two major stars – Hrithik Roshan’s Kaabil and Ajay Devgn’s Baadshaho.
Both films are well on schedule to release in January next year. The pre-production work of Baadshaho has already begun and the film will go on floors as soon as Ajay is done with his directorial venture ‘Shivaay’.
Rakesh Roshan has already released a digital poster to slam the release of ‘Kaabil’.
Few questions for the Raees makers:
- If two films can’t release on a major weekend like Eid, a period during which Bajrangi Bhaijaan collected Rs 321 crore at the domestic box office. Does it make even an iota of business sense to announce a big film like ‘Raees’ with two other major films during the Republic Day weekend – the period during which the highest grosser has only collected Rs 128 crore?
- The makers of ‘Raees’ simply cannot afford to postpone the film again - moving out of the Eid weekend has caused enough embarrassment already. So why didn’t you internally discuss, sort out the dates before releasing the press statement?
- Are you going to release a film 2 years after the teaser was out? Will the audience be excited?

Makes no sense at all. I was so hyped for Raees, but this delay has killed all of it. Still I want it to work big time, but not at the cost of a Hrithik Roshan film. 26th January, only Kaabil.

Really a very bad management people in excel I think and even srk often called marketing king wonder where his mind went to holiday.
He can go for safe solo non holiday release and even date suggested by indicine make sense. He can come in eid Christmas with clash doesn’t matter as long as his film is good it ll be hit in those period and moreover those period are capable to accommodate two big films. Bt coming in Republic weekend with two other films is suciede. I m sure he ll change d date again and ll feel miserable embrasment.feeling bad for srk.
Well I will be going to watch only Kaabil bsce I don’t want see the story which was aiming at Eid. So republic day is special for most Indians. Will only watch Kaabil next weekend Badshaho.

Raees can do great business, only if it release solo; i don’t see it doing that well with the clash with any big film. Believe me, Raees is the most exciting film and character SRK has played in his life(none of his other films comes even close to this level)..the reason they can’t clash is, because its a hard-hitting, disturbing film, dark and slow; a kind of film that family audience don’t like. so it should not clash with any film. it should release solo, that’s the only way it can do well..it Raees should release on Eid AL-adha
Ajay devgn busy with his directional so he not involving these clash, after he finished his shivaay then definitely Ajay active and clear all confusing. We all know Ajay is Ajay , he never scare to clash unless movie solid content. If clash 3 movie then collection 200 cr over combine.

Raees – 70cr (coz buzz will be low when it release like Bombay velvet)

Baadshaho is off schedule shivaay has lots of work left. And as a producer, director and actor Ajay need to look up many things for shivaay. Moreover Shivaay won’t wrap up before August. It left Baadshaho with 4 motnhs to shoot and post production which is impossible. So Kaabil will make it and Raees if it stick to that date.
We all salmania will support ajay at any cost ….

Exactly the same questions that everyone is asking. To avoid clash with one film they are clashing with 2 other. Unfathomable.
I no longer respect SRK as a star or superstar, if at all he thinks that he is a superstar than he wud rather fight with Sultan and lose like a brave man rather than running away like a coward.
And what made him think to go on for a three way clash that too on a republic day? Is he okay for the day? This way none of the 3 films may not cross even the 100 Cr as January is one of the dullest month for business. The highest earning film on a Republic Day till now is Airlift(130 Cr). How much do you think these 3 films will earn now?
Raees makers neither have Daring to release their film on the promised date nor do they have the dimaag to target a proper date.
And look how Rakesh Roshan and Milan Lutharia are indirectly telling that they are not afraid of SRK and are ready to take on him.

There was Never gonna be clash between Raees and Sultan.. Exhibitors will without a Doubt Choose Salman+yrf over Srk+Excel+RCE .. So makers of Raees should have known it before and Shud have booked some other Weekend As soon as Sultan was Announced for Eid..
