The box office collections and trends of Shah Rukh Khan’s FAN is similar to Akshay Kumar’s Brothers which released in theatres during the ‘Independence Day’ weekend last year.
Both films took a similar opening (after negating the partial holiday advantage for FAN), similar weekend (Brothers benefitting because of the big national holiday on Saturday) and both will finish with similar lifetime totals – with FAN showing slightly better trends, which would help it to collect about 2-3 crore more than Brothers.
At the end of Week 1 – Brothers had collected Rs 72.52 crore, while FAN has accumulated Rs 71.5 crore.
At the end of 10 days (2nd weekend) – Brothers had collected Rs 78.62 crore, while FAN has edged ahead with Rs 79.25 crore net box office collections.
As far as the business economics of the two films are concerned, FAN is the more expensive film. At the overseas box office, the SRK starrer has performed better.

Hahaha nice try…even the ones you said are nowhere near the capacity of a ‘Superstar’ and these numbers were achieved by Hrithik even in 2006 (Dhoom 2) and 2008 (Jodha Akbar) and even his negative WOM Bang Bang collected $13 Million despite being a remake of a flop Hollywood movie. Moreover ZNMD, Krrish 3, Agneepath all collected more than the ones mentioned by you.

In BOI…the one you and many others consider as the Bible or ‘Trade’ (LMAO) Hrithik was 3rd in the overseas ranking after the release of Bang Bang….even above Salman Khan…Salman now got skyrocketed coz of Bajrangi’s superb performance all over and then coz of the initial taken by the crap PRDP…so even as per the shitty BOI Hrithik was always in the top 3 overseas stars and Salman overtook him during a period where he didn’t have a release…. and admit the fact that Akshay was never a force in overseas…he might have single screen audience support in India, but he was never a crowd puller in Multiplexes (Airlift might be an exception) and overseas….cheers

Yes, FAN has underperformed big time and there is no shame in accepting that fact.
There is a big hype around the FAN failure as it was not expected from an SRK starrer (who gave his last flop a decade back) to fall flat on box-office.
Nevertheless, he will bounce back strongly, with Raees and other pipelined movies.

Heavy budget Mohan-Se-Mat-Daro will be turn out a disaster , if it fails to cross 150cr. So better worry about that instead of buying new haters for your idol.

Unfair and illogaical comparison ,brothers was a full on commercial movie .it had Siddharth and Jacqueline,songs and even an item song on kareena plus it had a huge holiday I am quite sure if fan had one such huge holiday it would have crossed 100 Cr nett fan didn’t had such things its only USP was srk and he was fantastic in the movie

Brothers had 1 national holiday advantage and Fan got 3 partial holidays(hanuman jayanti, mahavir jayanti, ram navmi). So its well balanced.
Both movies have a similar lifetime of 85 cr.
Brothers was made on a budget of 120 cr, including Akshay’s fee. So producers have seen a loss of 35 cr.
Fan is made on a budget of 105 cr, excluding SRK’s fee. Which means its a loss for both producers(20 cr) and SRK(the biggest loss ever as he is not even getting a penny for an exhausting film like this).

While all siddharth fans were barking that Siddharth is Varun’s senior because he has 2 higher openers and weekend grossers(of 50 cr) than Varun, here no one calling Brothers even an Akshay-Siddharth film, neither is anyone carring about calling him an asset in the film. Even Ek villan is nothing without songs and shraddha. Sidharth’s aukaat is at 6 cr openers that too because of Fawad-Alia.
So now indicine accepted that SRK movies on non festivals aren’t comparable for Non Festive of Aamir n Salman… Now Salman Came on Non Festive with Jai Ho in 2014 and Non Holiday With Blockbuster Ready in 2011… Aamir came Non Holiday + Non Festive with Talaash but still waiting for SRK to come on Non Holiday as Fan was Non Festive but not Non Holiday bcz It got 2-3 Holidays… and also waiting to see a Blockbuster on Non Festive and Non Holiday from SRK… I have seen Blockbuster from Salman on Non Holiday+ Non Festive Ready…
I have seen a lot of people pointing illogical sequences in Fan. Just wanted to have @Indicine’s opinion of the illogical sequences in BB. Likes of Sarbjit and others were captured by Pakistan for long time and were allegedly killed. How come Salman khan,the character, can sneak through the border without getting shot? How is that he roams around Pakistan without a Passport? How come the train doors aren’t locked in the night and a kid sneaks out? Specially a train that is travelling across borders with great risk of attack? It is just impossible to digest these illogical liberties. No one questioned that? Film went on to be a big grosser as well. It’s a story of a kid and thats why family audiences and others loved it and ignored all the glaring illogical sequences

Hey cheapos, stop criticizing FAN as a movie made on huge budget, obviously it is a SRK film and will never be made on low budgets, after all he is duniya ka sabse bada superstar. And chill, he earns more than any movie from his different business ventures, just IPL is enough to recover FAN loss (if any).. he is not just an actor like Amir, Salman, Akshay, etc.. SRK is a super star!

Brothers barely had any trailer promo visibility in television and johar did f all to promote it, he didn’t care other than screwing akki up, production budget was already recovered with a table profit of johar banner, he always hated akki And it showed so openly when he didn’t market brothers like he does for ranbir, hrithik or srk movie.
