Even if 4 other films released, I’d still release Dilwale on December 18: SRK

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan has said that he would release Dilwale on December 18th, even if 4 other films released on the same date.

In an interview to promote the film, SRK said he has nothing against Sanjay Leela Bhansali, who releases his film Bajirao Mastani on the same day.

“No, we are all friends. We have done films together (Devdas). It just so happens. There are 52 films, 200 films. Someone is going to release on the same day. It is unfortunate that this has happened”

“We are very clear that this film (Dilwale) is designed for Christmas. It’s a happy-go-lucky family film, this is the mood of the year when everybody wants to enjoy and have festivities. And I’m sure Bajirao Mastani being a historical has its own space for the audience, but this was the period (for Dilwale)”

“I would not change it (release date) for anything in the world. Except if we hadn’t completed the film. I say this as a producer and distributor.. for the first time, my company is distributing a film, we are taking a very big step of turning into a semi-studio model”

“18th December was the date for my team, for me and it’s a film that’s meant for 18th December, meant for Christmas. It was supposed to come on this date. If four other films had come with Dilwale, it would still be 18th of December”

“I wish Bajirao the best and I wish us also great success. But there is no feud (with Team Bajirao), there is no problem”

  • @Babaji
3 is not bad for a Masala entertainer but the point is BM is also getting mixed reviews means the much talked about content of BM is not going to work. Its a slow paced movie.

  • gulf news already gave 4 star to Dilwale and Bhaji pav to 2.5…..all the way Dilwale won…the clash…

i chked with Dubai friend ppl in dubai start celebrating….for Dilwale…ppl in theaters dancing when SRk entry after 30 minutes of the film…

  • My Dilwale prediction :

    Opening day : 22-26 CR
    Opening weekend : 75-85 CR

    Lifetime :

Best case scenario : 225-235 CR
Ideal case scenario : 205-215 CR
Worst case scenario : 185-195 CR

Anything below 185 CR will be a disappointment for me. At the same time, anything above 235 CR will be a bonus.

Also, Dilwale is set to create few new records with CLASH.
Currently, these records are held by Hrithik’s Bang Bang, if I’m not wrong.
Though Dilwale’s opponent is not as weak as Haider, still I believe it will own the records of lifetime and opening weekend (with CLASH).

This is my first and final prediction.
    Fingers crossed.

  • BM releases in Pakistan today and Dilwale will release tomorrow. But When I was there to buy my tickets at Cinepax Rawalpindi,I didnt see a single person asking or buying BM ticket(At about 3 pm).May b someone bought before or after. But there was a line with maximum asking for Dilwale tickets.Initially I didnt know that BM released today but when I reached home and opened my laptop I realized that it released today here but still no craze and no audience for BM..hehe

  • @babaji ka thullu You finally show your true colours. From Kick and CE you came down to 195 cr? Advance booking for Dilwale is outstanding, some say even better than HNY. Stop spreading negativity everywhere with your prediction comment. You are now acting like those moron youngistaan fan and lallufans who are predicting 180 crore for bhajipao mastani and 150 crore for Dilwale Lol.

  • @romance mark my words dilwale will not cross prdp trade n producer fig
We all know prdp hindi collection according to trade is 194.5 cr… Total collection is 197 cr were producer collection is 212 cr… Don’t worry my friend even it will not cross hny collection lol..

  • Law of average will surely come into play with these 2 movies. Thereby SRK will face a downfall with one of its upcoming releases. Even Salman had his share with ‘jai ho’. Even prdp didnt did that well.
Bajiraos content has to be totally outstanding to do some dent to Dilwale’s business also in U.S craze for Star wars movie is at peak, so hardly any help will be obtained from foriegn markets for both films. I heard a single first day first ticket sold for $500 – $1000 for star wars.

As an audience i have many things to watch for and spend reasonably.

  • @Joker Bhushan 07:10 pm : Unfortunately we are not criminal fans who make 350 CR storm predictions and then struggle to cross 200 CR. We believe to be on earth not in sky :D

  • That’s called a King size statement.. proud to be a fan of you Mr. Khan!!

@Babaji ka thullu : for a masala films 3.5 is way enough.. By the way with such a big clash 200 crores will be more than ”oustanding” for a masala film!!!

@BHUSHAN : No one has stopped you from watching Saawariya 2.. Bhai fans deserves it only.

@Virat Kohli : get out from your dream. dreaming such thing is not a good for a non-actor’s fans.

  • I likd tis comment by a indicine user

dullwaale dnt hav interval..instead its srKAY promoting the 2nd half

  • @Jaleel :: Idiot, read that earlier prediction of mine.I said it clearly that it was’nt my final prediction. It was a generous prediction, keeping in mind Dilwale gets superb WOM..
This is my final prediction considering fairly good WOM.

  • Dilwale buzz is so strong. I was having little doubt before intolerance pests will affect the movies collection but Shah Rukh Khan and Rohit teams just looks so relaxed.

  • Unstoppable force to reckon with because King is the talk of the town now. Everywhere you go you must feel that cool breeze of air with Dilwale written all over. If it’s about personality and swag no one dare matches with KING KHAN.

  • Don’t be arrogant SRK, remember the days when you gave consecutive 11 flops :P

    a) Chamatkar
    b) Dil Ashna Hai
    C) Maya Memsaab
    d) King Uncle
    e) Zamana Deewana
    f) Guddu
    g) Oh Darling yeh Hai India
    i) Raam Jane
    j) Trimurti
    k) English Babu Desi Mem
    l) Chahaat

  • Srk is very very confident about this movie.Srk-Kajol jodi can never disappoint us.One thing is for sure Dilwale won’t incur losses even if the movie isn’t upto expectations but for BM the reports need to be extraordinary in order to sustain against the Dilwale juggernaut
@Sultan But our predictions are far more realistic than the 400 crore storm you were expecting this Diwali:)
@Babaji I am sure they won’t give it 4 even if they like it they would rate it 3.5 since they have already burnt their hands with HNY and PRDP:)
According to me the 1st day collections should be in the range of 25 crores and lifetime should be around 250 crores.

  • Eros has already lost the clash
and now lost the case too
and will lose the cash too ;)

Everyone who will clash with SRK will lose clash case cash and everything.

  • Dilwale review by GulfNews.com
Let me put a harsh truth out there first: Dilwale would have fallen flat on its face if it did not have Kajol and Shah Rukh Khan as its lead actors. It’s the kind of romantic drama that draws heavily on these two stars and their unrivalled on-screen chemistry. It’s the kind of entertainer where the story is an afterthought. And that’s a good thing.

Because Dilwale, directed by Rohit Shetty, known for his breezy entertainers, isn’t on a sturdy footing when it comes to rolling out a watertight script. Just like the string of swanky cars and comic sidekicks rolled out in Dilwale, the movie is mostly sheen with a smattering of substance. There are fast cars and a pair of furious lovers here.

All your energy gravitates towards wrapping your head around Meera and Raj’s love-hate game.

It works as Kajol, who is back on the big screen after five years since My Name Is Khan, is in superb form. I am not talking about her craft alone. She has never looked better and is absolutely alluring as the mercurial Meera. Just like her salon-perfect hair and nails, this incredible actress makes sure that she does a good job of lending credibility to an incredulous story.

The story goes thus: Meera and Raj belong to two warring Mafia families operating in Bulgaria. There’s Raj, the adopted son of an India Mafia gang lord, brandishing guns and stealing trunks of gold from his opponents. He’s a mean machine in a leather jacket, but turns soft after he runs into Meera. What follows is a squeaky clean courtship comprising dinner dates with flowers, ice-creams, candlelight dinner … the works. It’s undoubtedly corny, but credit is due to Khan and Kajol for injecting it with believability. Just when you think that the movie is heading south, there’s an interesting twist that gives Kajol a chance to shine. She nails it. While Kajol stands out in the first half, the second half is dominated ably by Khan. Playing a vanquished, tortured lover who even sheds a tear is a space that Khan owns. His transformation from a gangster to a prosperous mechanic isn’t entirely plausible, but when did facts stand in the way of a Bollywood love story?

Actors Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon play a young couple in love. Their conflicts aren’t as complicated as their elder siblings — Raj and Meera — which is a good thing. Two angst-ridden love stories in one film would have been intolerable.

These kids are on call to look cute and lovable, and Dhawan does a good job of being Mr adorable, while Sanon is prettiness personified. Dhawan’s comic timing isn’t shabby either. However, the jokes don’t flow easy like Shetty’s previous works such as Bol Bachchan and Chennai Express. Dilwale is more drama than comedy. However, the director has remained faithful to his love of car chases, vehicle explosions and car swivels. For every romantic song shot in picturesque locales, there was a car explosion that blew your mind away. Watch this only if you have a thing for watching Kajol and Khan on the silver screen.

    Out now

    Film: Dilwale

Cast: Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon

    Director: Rohit Shetty

    Stars: 3 out of 5

  • I am Salman’s fan for ages. I start loving shahrukh now. He was bashed from all fans. But his thought process, speaches, and humbleness won me. Very lately I start understanding his talent. No one can be a shahrukh khan with an ordinary looks and that claims to be a biggest style icon and huge fan base is beyond achievement

  • here in pakistan in islambad i call to the main cinema to book a ticket and the reply i received sorry sir there is no ticket available till 23. now i will have to go another cinema which is an hour away from my home.
