Now that Salman Khan’s ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ has completed a record-breaking first week at the box office, it’s time to compare the collections of Eid releases in the last 4 years.
On Eid, a new record has been set every year. In 2012, Ek Tha Tiger broke the record of Bodyguard and got very close to becoming the highest grosser of all time, falling short by just 3 crore. In 2013, Shahrukh Khan conquered the box office by not only breaking the previous Eid records, but delivered the industry’s highest grosser of all time when Chennai Express successfully broke the 4-year-old record of 3 Idiots.
In 2014, Salman’s Kick surpassed Chennai Express by a small margin. This year, Salman has conquered the box office yet again, smashing the records of all previous films. ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ has already gone past the worldwide gross of ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ and will eventually beat both ‘Chennai Express’ and ‘Kick’.
The only Eid record that the Salman Khan starrer might find difficult to beat, is the 120 crore overseas collections of ‘Chennai Express’. Even that is not out of reach, as Bajrangi Bhaijaan has collected Rs 84 crore in Week 1 at the overseas box office.

Strange when u know srk fans says srk is bigger star then salman. Let me tell u one thing srk was a bigger star, no 1 star in the past thats why his popularity still remaining today. But salman is a fresh contender to compete him after 2009. U know salmans popularity is increasing day by day. bb collected more then kick, kick netted more than ett. And same goes with aamir too. Srk may be the king of bollywood, romance etc etc. I apriciate and love him for that but not better than salman. Try him to make a movie like jai ho and net collect 100 cr. Impossible for him.
