Ajay Devgn’s Drishyam has collected Rs 6 crore at the domestic box office on Day 1, including paid previews on Thursday. The film opened poorly on Friday, but showed decent growth in business towards the end of the day.
The remake of Mohanlal’s Malayalam classic with the same title, Drishyam is carrying positive word-of-mouth which should help the film show growth in business on Saturday and Sunday.
On Saturday morning, the average occupancy at centres that we tracked was higher than Friday. Night shows will be important, as the occupancy on Friday night was poor at multiplexes.
Salman’s Bajrangi Bhaijaan is also expected to show big growth in business today, so it’ll be interesting to see which film performs better at multiplexes.
Drishyam released on 2350 screens across India on Friday, after a limited release on 1100 screens on Thursday.

@sultan Mirza OK it is offbeat film bt remember its highly successful remake and second thing same akshays special 26 was also offbeat film BT it collected 7 cr with clash from abcd and it was released in only 1600 screens …

I am so shocked with negative comments on drishyam. After a long while such a beautiful masterpiece is on. This is a perfect marriage of strong content and star power. About ajay it’s a shame denoting him. How many actors can take the gamble he did. Not more than 3 or 4. He of course knew it’s an off beat movie in between Bb and brothers but still went ahead. He is not after collection for this movie so why these cheap talks. Shame on all the akian fans. For once appreciate the movie!! Not for ajay devgn sake but okay for a beauty Bollywood has given us after too much of dushum dushum love and masala movies. These movies hardly comes by so why not remove all grudges and praise the 2nd half of 2015 where 2 superstars are already giving us content rich movies.

To all akki fans; you guys are aware that collections are not define superstar’s stardom..I have skipped drishyam cause i will go brothers three times or may be more to watch brothers cause its too promising and its my fav akki sir movie…some of fans of ajay always bashing akki..we akkians r loyal but you can not take a sip of bit of bashing our superstar akki..ajay fans its a humble request to you guys that to get love always spread love..
wait guys films like this never take huge openings forex-talaash and also after dhoom 3 craze jai ho also not done well as per salman standards this movie has strong wom ,will pick up slowly and colud collect 60-70 crore which will be very good like talaash collected around 90 crores in holiday period ajay sir has given 32 crore opening it shows his fan following and on the same day when ouatimdobara released it failed to collect this much
@Babaji, agree that Baby wasn’t out n out action thriller but it did have action elements and more appeleaing genre. While Drishyam is pure family thriller movie just in the similar genre as talaash. So the comparison is invalid. I still challenge your star akshay and 2 overrated khans srk and salman can they do such movie and release on non holiday? Khans except for aamir are playing safe by only doing commercial movies and that’s why their 2 RS fans bark about aamir and ajay’s stardom because they take risk by doing such off beat thrillers but I bet you, your akshay and 2 khans cant match even 6 crores opening of drishyam on non holiday with same genre. I can bet you on that.
Fans of real superstars n not 1 yr hit wonder (2007) only mock joker boys poor opening bcoz of Joker Boys dumb fans consistently chanting 20cr openings n 250cr lifetime for Bhojpori Brothers or 150cr for Boss etc etc

Fabulous wom and all social sites both critics n users use key words like excellent masterclass must watch great movie etc. If you read my comments on drisyham 1month back I told someone am not expecting huge numbers just Ajay bouncing bk from aj n himmtwla n a genuinely appreciated movie whole of india. It’s between 2 huge movie bb n brothers bahubal is still on,d genre,multiplex oriented etc. Yes for badshao n shivaay I can boast for great numbz but not this!

In states like up , Punjab , haryana nd Rajasthan there were no holiday where an Akshay KUMAR starrer usually takes an good opening that is why gib only took a good opening not a bumper one and also one thing to note after the initial trailer release the buzz for this film declined badly due to lack of good promotions otherwise gib could have taken 16-19cr start at the box office….@tiger the king the film was also facing competition in Maharashtra from time pass 2 which ate up 15 cr of it’s collections and in overseas the movie was competing with age of ultron which was one of the most awaited movie of the year so overall the movie lost around 25-30cr at box office….
The multiplex audiences were not also keen to watch this film because of its genre….. @tiger better hide ur face coz brothers is coming on 14th Aug which will rock Indian and overseas market
@Rew1! Now where are you hiding your face? As I told you many times before that Ajay is nothing with out rohit Shety . We will see the first day collections of this movie tomorrow. This movie has got excellent revews almost from all sites, but collections will be below average. Ajay is a fantastic actor, but he is not a super star. Same thing about you scared khan. I hope you got my point.

Irrespective of indicines beliefs bo does not lie… SR proved audiences loved a character of Ajay twice as much as the next best offering from joker boy- that may not mean they like Ajay more than joker boy or they like rohits movies above its lead hero but it is though obvious to me that Ajay got bums on seats for his movie which joker boy can only dream off.
