Ajay Devgn’s Drishyam has collected Rs 6 crore at the domestic box office on Day 1, including paid previews on Thursday. The film opened poorly on Friday, but showed decent growth in business towards the end of the day.
The remake of Mohanlal’s Malayalam classic with the same title, Drishyam is carrying positive word-of-mouth which should help the film show growth in business on Saturday and Sunday.
On Saturday morning, the average occupancy at centres that we tracked was higher than Friday. Night shows will be important, as the occupancy on Friday night was poor at multiplexes.
Salman’s Bajrangi Bhaijaan is also expected to show big growth in business today, so it’ll be interesting to see which film performs better at multiplexes.
Drishyam released on 2350 screens across India on Friday, after a limited release on 1100 screens on Thursday.
Good collections considering the genre and limited release.
Not as good as Talaash. Suspense throughout the movie was lacking- couldnt hold onto you for first fcouple of hrs- alot of audience here were talking throughout first half- I too was more interested in mates days at work so the feeling was story was too weak for what essentially was a mystery crime thriller. Ending was good but that was the ending n by that stage you just wanted to get out of the damn theatre.
My rating is 2 n thats it. I like to be entertained captivated for most part of a movie n thos didnt do that for me.
Probably BB get the height even in its 16th day but depends upon the w-o-m of Drishyam.
BB shall mint at least 19 cr….this weekend.
All the best for the movie Akay n fans but I think this one was in all senses n purposes a movie that perhaps shouldnt have been remade especially since the Kamal Hassan version itself only released a month ago. That movie n the Mohanlal version I will get to watch to on dvd coutesy of a friend so with dubbing or subtitles hoping to see what all the fuss is about.
Promotion was poor…otherwise it could collect more…..By the way this one is a good movie…

The order when akshay niche film gets 5.75 in 2013 with 1550 screens it mean flop star ,but when ajay film on 2350 does tge same it is was expected. baised indian media.
Including Thursday Paid Previews Drishiyam collected 8.35 crore accordng to Koimoi and Addatoday.

So film is doing business exactly as per my prediction…!!…

@Rew1! Now where are you hiding your face? As I told you many times before that Ajay is nothing with out rohit Shety . We will see the first day collections of this movie tomorrow. This movie has got excellent revews almost from all sites, but collections will be below average. Ajay is a fantastic actor, but he is not a super star. Same thing about you scared khan. I hope you got my point.

@sss Bro it isn’t necessary to downgrade every movie not featuring our favorite star.Even I had started hating Ajay after the infamous clash but once Srk buried the hatchet there wasn’t any reason to hate Ajay.If he isn’t good looking let be it.I would prefer him over any other actor who makes girls drool over him but can’t act.He has given us numerous good films and he’s one of the finest actors in Bollywood.So please don’t spread hatred unnecessarily since I know the movie is good having seen bits of the Tamil version.

So, Kal ka loundaa Sid & varun are bigger star than your king…LOL.
drishyam producer figuure including paid preview=8.5cr
and trade figure=5.8cr
difference is 2.7cr….its too much

@babaji akki is a much much bigger star than ajay.You are a hrithik fan also but trust me akshay is a bigger star than hrithik as well.If akki does 1 film in 2 years he will give bigger openings than HR.Akshay has the 4th biggest fan base
Ajay Devgn is a great actor, especially for intense roll. But still after 24 years in bollywood he could not manage a sizable fan following. His lack of communication skill ann charishama in reel and real life is the main reason. That’s why he could never make himself a superstar. But he survive so many years and will deliver hit here and there.
I think, he will be in the category of sunil dutt, jeetendra and rajkumar. A big star, liked by all but never dominating force in boxoffice.

@Buddha thullu carrier, yes we still have many comments to bash akki. First of all apply some common sense that drishyam is very off beat kind of thriller. Neither it was action movie like baby. Let first akki do this kind of thriller and release after 2 or 3 weeks after any khan’s movie which is no doubt commercial success and we will see if he can even match 6 crores opening or not. Even srk and Salman cant get more than 10 crores opening if they do such off beat kind of thriller and release it on a non holiday period. So better shut your creepy mouth.
Dridhyam will be flop. next week Bangistan will also flop. Next week other releases JANISAAR and BIN ROYE will be classic films to watch. Specially bin roye starring Raees Fame Mahira khan has already Done block buster bussness on EID on UAE, UK, USA, Ausrailia & Pakistan

To all akki fans, we still remember that despite so much hype of Baby, and action genre, brilliant concept and plot and niraj pandey as a director, the movie opened with less than 9 crores with more screens and republic day release. So what should we say about akshay’s stardom???????????????????

When Talaash opening were lower than d youngistsn movies did anyone compare? These are huge stars that have done it @box office already… They know how much max a talaash or drishyaam will fetch n even say it openly in media for them it’s an experimental thriller movie that they found d scripts interesting period!! So 1st do it!! Break opening day of 30 crores barriers with huge commercial mainstream with no competition, once yr star enters that league than u compare ajay with even neil mukesh!! So for now keep that frustration aside . If not as @figure said ….accept that fact!!
@Abanfaruqi yupp no doubt. Hrithik is mostly 2nd favrt of many especially akki nd srk fan nd if hrithik will do more films nd movies which r not highly good will flop badly like kites 42 cr.
